When your child does something for the very first time, and the look on his face is one of pride, it's a wonderful thing! And then when they see how proud you are of them, as well, it's just a really great feeling!
Vivian nailed it on the head. When they always thought you were so cruel and mean, until they get a child. then they call and tell you what a good parent you were. That what they thought was mean kept them out of trouble. Now that they see all their high school friends getting and staying in trouble.
I think it's just the joy of creating a life, of nurturing that life, and, conversely, of respecting the delicate nature of life, the importance of it; the fact that our contribution in birthing a child could change the world at some point for better or worse (and that we do have SOME measure of influence in which it will be). The best part is just the overwhelming sense of duty, loyalty, protectiveness, and PURPOSE that comes with the role.
The first time they hand the little one to you and he looks at you with this unexplainable look, as though he has all of the trust in the world in you and that you have been together forever! Like it is about time you let me come out and see the world! :)
Being a grandma is tops! But, heck, before that, I thougt being mom was tops and before that being childless was best and before that being a kid was.....hmmmmm the future looks awfully bright, now! To directly answer the question: The best part about being a mom is discovering deeper emotions than you ever imagined. All emotions. You feel stronger love, you get angrier, more fearful, prouder, etc. All of the things you feel are intensified. How cool is that?
There is not 1 part that is not awesome about being a Mom! It is all good and I thank God for these blessings everyday! Nothing better then being a Mom!
