Six dumpsters, three curbs, 4 miles, and 45 minutes after leaving the house, my daughter and I return with our booty. Without even touching a college campus, again I prove myself worthy of the titles; 'Queen of the Dumpster Divas' and 'Duchess of Scrounge'. *deep regal curtsy in stained jeans and wrinkled work shirt*It's no wonder I keep a car around. There's no way I'd be able to drag this haul home on a bike. *chuckle*
I wonder if saving items from the landfill and recycling via recurrent nocturnal reclamations shrink our overall carbon footprint as long as I park and turn off the car at every stop and only stop at the "good" "trash"?
Quote of the day: "Hey guys, anything salvageable over in this pile here?" Asked to two college students on a porch in reference to a pile of "trash" on the curb in front of their house.

I love how you mentioned getting brand name items on the roadside. Amazingly, aside from clothing and furniture, the most common item I find in dumpsters is jewelery, usually gold and diamonds. Most people freak when I tell them that there are diamonds in the garbage. *chuckle*
Definitely friending up with you. Thanks for your comment!
I saw a tree out about a week ago (!). I was late to work and upset because it was laden with ornaments and lights.
If it is on the curb, its free for the taking.
I mean good shi* too hun.
Appliances, furniture, household items, in excellent condition!
For more information, check out my new article "Reclimation 101" to be published tomorrow. :D
I want to go with the 'queen of the dumpster divas' to see how you do this!
:)
However, if I think an item may be worthwhile to someone I will leave it on the outside of the dumpster so they don't have to dive in order to get it.
I don't know when I'll be going again. Likely this coming weekend or close to that. I want to give the students time from our last trip to toss out more goodies. *grin* You knew our vacume sweeper we've been using for the last year or so was a dumpster score, right? *grin* Well, heck, most of the stuff we own was someone else's cast-offs one way or another.
*snobbish voice* We are SO green and eco-friendly it hurts mall-wart. *snicker*
Or maybe we're just exceedingly friugal? The world may never know :P
