I had to work Labor Day but our zoo had a new baby giraffe. I won my first photograhy award off a baby giraffe a few years back...and Mrs. Doyle felt well enough to go for a few hours...so even though I had to work Monday...we went on Sunday. It was piping hot and the fires were still not too distant...but overall, it was nice. I had to reduce these photos to 15% due to size limits...

Here's the new baby...just a hair over 6 feet tall.

"You talking to me?" Umm...yes. Yes I was! :o)

"You talking to me?" No. No, Sir. Heh heh heh. The gorillas have a new habitat.

I love these guys. They smell...but their habitat...mostly green (complete with a waterfall)...goes so well with their colors...

Their color comes from their diet...they would be white without the proper food so there is some variation in the amount of pink they show.

While they look great...they COULD smell better. :o)

Something tells me THIS one gets more than his share of food!

This is a horse. It's what happens when you cross breed a black horse and a white horse. When...WHEN will people think of the children for God's sake!

Even resting in the shade...the lioness seemed regal!

A shot for all you DB 1ers! I call it...moon from my Rhino! :o)
Best wishes all...I miss you!

Love the baby giraffe and the rhino arse was truly inspired.
I was in love with the flamingo photos until I saw that lioness -- wow!
I came back for another look at your Baby Giraffe before going to bed. He's such a gorgeous, gorgeous baby and you took a wonderful shot of him, Doyle... one of the best animal close ups I've ever seen!
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
I do love giraffes!
Flamingos get their pink colour from eating shrimp, I believe.
