A Few Good Tips

A Frugal Yankee loves smart, common sense tips. Well, at least this one does. Sometimes they can save you some money, Sometimes they can save you time, and sometime you can simply impress your friends. In either case, I thought it would be a little bit of fun to share a few favorites with you.

I may evn have told you this one before, but it is my fave! Have you every burned your mouth with hot pizza? I sure have. You'd think I would have learned by now, but sometimes that pepperoni floating atop that bubbly cheese is just too much for this old boy. And before you know it, the roof of my mouth is scorched and my tongue is tenderly poking around the wound. Well, here is something that'll help. Make a 50-50 combination of hydrogen peroxide and water. Swill it around in your mouth.  Spit it out. The fizz soothes, kills any germs and dissolves dead skin. Your mouth will heal more quickly, but don't swallow. I did that once by accident. I didn't like it.

Not bad, huh?

Or how about this one. With gas prices being what they are, be sure to buy your gas early in the week. Invariably gas prices rise for the weekend and especially before a holiday weekend. Funny how that works? You'd think those big oil companies are trying to maximize their mulit-billion dollar a quarter profits. Congress should pass a 'windfall tax'. Oops, they aready did, but it favors the oil companies over us regular folks.

If you're like this Frugal Yankee, you wonder how in the world anything got fixed before  duct tape. The stuff is amazing,  EXCEPT when it you have to remove it. It's tough to get off, and then there is that tape residue. Try this. Wash it with lighter fluid or vegetable oil, rub it in, and then wash it off. If you use the lighter fluid, be careful, that stuff is quite corrosive.
