Wings of life

Fluttering her wings

Amidst the sweet scent

Giving flowers competition

You are stagnant

But I can fly

And spread my colors

in the sky

Just out of bud says

Little butterfly

I can pick and choose my petal

And leave it if I wish

There are hundreds like you

But like me are few

I can dance on your head

And drink the dew

You have no choice

but to comply

Says arrogant butterfly

Don’t be rude

We are all for a purpose

I am admired and loved like you

Look at my petals

Such beautiful hue

All a beautiful rose could reply

You have thorns

That makes you evil

I am an angel from the sky

Rude is now this butterfly

Recklessly flying

She needed rest

Her little wings tired of

Show off at best

Of all the flowers she choose

Venus flytrap

Flowers in the vicinity

Had a last laugh

There lie in rest

Stupid little butterfly

Amarpreet, you are one of the ones I didn't mention, that I believe is more "poet." I've seen you attempt forms of poetry, and I can see craftsmanship in your work.

There are people who write poetry, and people who PURSUE it. In what I wrote I was attempting to generate conversation regarding passion, writing, pursuit... what each of us thinks makes someone who they are.

Nice poem... I've seen butterflies compared to flying flowers before... (just a dig at the arrogant little butterfly) bwa ha ha

It happens not only with those coloured angels... It happens to hundreds of innocent girls who flutter around the jazzy, splashy ones... by the time they realise, lo! they are swallowed by Venus Flytraps! A very good poem.. very symbolic too! Nice work.. want to read more from you, Amarpreet!

Lisa : I love poems since childhood ..I guess I find it easy to relate to a verse than prose ...and yes I do like to try to improve and learn this art ..for that I find gather a real wonderful place ...coz I get a chance to meet people like you .

Fantastic poetic commentary on the arrogance of beauty. It reminded me of Aphrodite and the weaving competition where she gets beaten. Imaginative and lilting this was fantastic!

Amarpreet, this is simply a delightful, descriptive and whimsical little fantasy of the plights and dangers and temptations of the insect world around such perilous and beautiful flowers such as the rose and Venus Fly Trap, my favorite as a young boy.
