Hey, guess what guys? I like poetry.
I used to hate it until I found out just now that there are all kinds of different ways that poetry can be. There is the regular kind that I don't like and that's called "ballad". That's the kind that everyone thinks of when they think about poetry. The other sort of boring kind is rhyming. God if it's short and not so good if it's long. Some good kinds are haikus and limericks(I didn't know THOSE were poems). More good ones are poetry that describe things like color and stuff. There are also ones called "Acrostic" where the first letter of a sentence describing the thing that's talked about spells out the word of the thing and "alphabet" where every line starts with letters of the alphabet in order. There are some other nice kinds too only I forgot what those are called.
I found al this stuff out today because I get the Surfing The Net With Kids newsletter and Barbara Feldman had a list of different websites that are about poetry and one of the sites was caled "Types of Poetry For Kids"

I get the image of a kid in a candy store while you were writing this. I can see you reading the different types of poetry that you actually do like and getting all excited. : )
Otelia, please don't get carried away. I don't write poetry yet. I only just started liking it a half hour ago.
