Big Sam's Funky Nation
Local group Big Sam’s Funky Nation has been searing its undeniably funky mark onto the New Orleans music scene since 2001. Recently, BSFN has toured across the country spreading its high energy musical manifesto - and always bringing the Party along the way. From the Big Easy to the Big Apple, from San Francisco to Miami (and many points in between) BSFN has ignited the crowd with music and moves that make it too hot to sit still.
The latest BSFN CD is Peace, Love & Understanding. This is the 3rd CD released by BSFN and showcases the evolution and depth of the band. Peace, Love & Understanding reaches down to dredge up the massive funk grooves that have become the trademark of BSFN –Jambase Online writes “as long as groups like Big Sam’s Funky Nation helm communal happenings like this one, the funky fever is bound to spread…”
The man knows how to play that bone! He was at the VooDoo Festival at City Park in New Orleans this past weekend, an annual three day feast of music, and I was fortunate enough to be there to enjoy him! But he wasn't alone! The day I went, Saturday, October 31st, here was the line up for the day:
