Michael Jackson homicide: How much time should Dr Conrad Murray serve?

He is dead...let him RIP...

so did he plan on killing MJ with all those meds, or was he just being an idiot and not paying attention to what he was doing. he should go to jail

It wasn't intentional. But the doctor wasn't careful and messed up...big time.

Liz, how you know that it wasn't intentional, you don't know what the doctor was thinking

I have really mixed feeling about this.

On the one hand a doctor should have your best interests at heart and closely monitor you especially if you are in the state MJ was reported to be in during his last days.

On the other hand I would have to see definitive proof that the doctor know that he was taking all those drugs at one time.

A doctor prescribes you a bottle of sleeping pills instructing you on how to take it then you go to the pharmacy and they again tell you how to take it and put a label on the bottle.

You then go home take the whole bottle and committ suicide.

Whos to blame?

As an adult especially ones with kids a little common sense goes a long way.

I'm with you. Who is to say what really happened anyway...look at Heath Ledger....I'd be inclined to say he committed suicide with the amount and type of drugs in his system...yet it was ruled an accident.

I voted no jail time. I think he should get a medal from Congress.

Uh, he was James Brown's doctor too...and James Brown died too...um do you think they aren't going to look into that one too as they already know the connection....

A doctor takes an oath, and what he did broke that oath. It is known you don't use propofol outside of an operating room. He will probably wind up guilty to manslaughter. You don't tend to get paid $250,000 a month as a doctor and he asked for millions a month. Don't tell me he didn't know what he was doing wasn't illegal.

I don't care who his patient was, he knew what he was doing and the risks involved.

The problem to me with your theory is that no one can be absolutely sure that the doctor knew that MJ was taking all the drugs. You cannot stand guard around an adult 24/7 not only is it not called for but I dont think anyone would enjoy such an invasion of privacy.

From what I understand there were 2 people who knew for sure if the doctor was the one administering the drugs in such quantities to MJ or if he was self medicating.

One of them is dead and the other isnt talking.

Of course the dr. knew what he was doing. You do NOT give a patient that many sedatives that close together first of all. He knew better.
Secondly, I don't care how much the patient says they want a certain drug, you are the supplier and adminster of that drug. A cardiologist? Then you are NOT stupid. YOu knew the propoful would cause greater damage.
It was the Drs. responsibility to say NO! to Michael.
Look here. I wanted a certain medical thing done earlier this year. The dr./surgeon said no.
I still insisted and said if she didn't I would go somewhere else.
She stood up to me and said and I am telling you as the physician this is NOT a good thing and I will not put a patient at risk.
I will not do this procedure on you under these circumstances.
In the end I did say o.k. and she stood her ground, as she should to protect not only herself, but the patients rights.
We found another way to get the same results and all went well from there, and I did have the surgery on my eye.
So, that said....Dr. Murray DID have a responsibility to stand up to Michael and NOT give in. He admits he did give in. FOr what? For money
Heck yeah!
Bottom line is had he stood up to the patient and NOT given in Mike would still be here and he would NOT be facing these charges.
As for how much jail time...doesn't matter it won't bring Mike back no. 1

I think it's up to the state to decide what charge, if any, should be filed. Homicide in a medical examiner's report doesn't mean murder. It means that the death was the result of something another person did.

I've had Versed while in Surgery for a Heart Catheterization. I'm STILL trying to recall all of my memory-it's a known fact it has the risk of giving a patient flippin' Amnesia!! The Dr. KNEW better!! His irresponsible actions blow my mind!

I doubt this ever goes to trial.
