It's so very hard to pick just one. I'd have to say Paul McCartneys rendition of "Till there was you". I just love it.
I am stuck between Let it Be and Hey Jude. Both are amazing. There will never be another Beatles. Once in a lifetime group.
My favourite song is "Here Comes The Sun". Nice tune, very positive, nice build up. My all time great Beatles and George Harrison tune.
So I was thinking "just one? --Impossible!" But if I could no longer listen to all the Beatles songs, If I had to pick only one that I could ever hear again... I think "Here Comes the Sun" would never get old for me.
I wonder how the winner is picked? If it is at random, then this post will be meaningless. but If it helps, I just want to say that I have had George's Concert for Bangledesh on my Amazon wish list for about 5 years... I never seem to get enough extra cash to actually rationalize buying music. I have to satisfy myself with playing Rocky Racoon and other simple songs on the guitar...
Hey Jude.
Maxwells Silver Hammer
Hey Jude
I can remember growing up, it was always 'Michelle'...my sister's name.
Can't Buy Me Love
I love "If I fell....in love with you"... one of their earlier pieces. Their voices were young, the beat was simple and the words ...so sweet.
It would have to be "Let it Be"
I'm with you on this David. "Let it Be" is the favorite for me as well!
Wow, thats a tough one...just one, huh?
I guess, I will have to go with "Back in the USSR"....
As for Harrison, I think he was amazing, and I would love to have the set.
mine without a doubt has to be Yellow Submarine
I find it difficult to pick just one too...
Octopus's Garden
All You Need Is Love
I am telling my husband he loves the beatles!
Hmm... Octopus's Garden.....or Rocky Raccoon.
My favorite Beatles song Varies But lately its been "Its All too Much" Cuz its a really good rocking song that George wrote and its about love and its a good driving song.
Can't By Me Love
I can't think of the name but it goes..."do you want to know a secret....do you promise not to tell? I'm in love with you..." I was alittle young for the beatles when they first came out, but I had an older sister who was a sleep, eat, breathe and live beatles fan--I'd have to pass this win on to her if I won, it would only be fitting.
It's called (Listen) "Do you want to know a secret"
-R.
I'd have to go with Yellow Submarine because I thought it was a fun song when I was a kid.
My favorite Beatles song is "She Loves You". I remember when I was in the 4th grade, which was 20 years ago, we did a PTA program about the different types of music through the years. "She Loves You" was the only song by the Beatles we sang in the program, but I just loved it so much, and still do today. I think it's a wonderful example of the music during that time.
Without a doubt, my favorite is "Revolution".
ah... my all time favorite Beatle.
I love all the Beatles songs - they were the soundtrack of my life.
I have to go back... far back... to the early days of yesteryear (wait, that's the Lone Ranger...)... well, "Listen, Do You Want to Know a Secret" - it was George's first time doing the lead singing with the Beatles... I still love it's sweetness and simplicity.
if i had to pick one and just one it would be "Yesterday" I dont know if it was just paul that did it or if it was all of them.
Oh... and if its not i'd pick "Help!"
"In my life" It says so much about the nature of love.
It's difficult to pick a favorite, but I would probably have to say "Lady Madonna."
Within You Without You, a George Harrison song from the 1967 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Album. The lyrics can apply to all generations. Also, this is the first song that has George playing the sitar, a musical instrument very few people ever heard. George learned to play this instrument from Ravi Shankar in India.
"When I'm 64" became popular with me when my now husband and I started dating and even more so when we got married, mostly because we got married after 40 so I aske him sometimes... "will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm 64?" I'm so glad he smiles and says "yeah, but Your the one doin' the feeding" and we both laugh.
I'd have to go with Helter Skelter.
The Long and Winding Road.
I grew up with the Beatles and have so many fond memories of them and their music! I remember my best friend's dad taking her to NYC to see them! I enjoy all their music but would have to say my favorite song is "Here Comes The Sun"!
In My Life ~
I love the Beatles, they are my favorite group. I have their movies, music, books. I use to have a room that had nothing but the Beatles in it, lol. But, I had a house fire and lost it all. I think In My Life is a perfect reflection of 'The Beatles'.
It is so hard to pick just one, but at the moment, the one at the top of the rotation list is "Dear Prudence" from the Abbey Road album for its smooth rhythmic lyrics and melody.
Oh my fave has got to be "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" sigh...those were the days :)
This is very difficult, as my earliest musical memories are of the Beatles. I guess I'd say the Let It Be is my favorite, followed by Yesterday.
Being a Harrison fan even more than a Beatles fan, from the beginning, my favorite was "Something."
"In My Life" was second-best.
In My Life.
There are several i like but I'd say "Can't buy me love".
I would say "Revolution", this would be an awesome prize to win!
My favorite Beatles song would be... umm.. tough choice.. "She's Got A Ticket" :)
I LOVE THE BEATLES!!!!
oh wow so many to choose from! I am a HUGE Beatles fan chooseing just one is so hard, as I read down it was like OH I love that one- oh that one too -wow there are just so many GREAT songs! but if I have to choose one I'll go with "All You Need Is Love"
"michelle" is my first choice of course. my next favorite is "hey jude".
there's so many great songs from great talent. :)
Well since we are talking George Harrison; mine just has to be Here Comes The Sun a song he wrote for the Beatles
P.S , I Love You
Mine is "Hey Jude"
wow there are so many. Probably my fav is I don't want to spoil the party...
and My Sweet Lord from George's career
"A Day in the Life"....for an album definitely Revolver.
"All You Need Is Love" is my personal fave. The song was born the same year as me (1967) and says it all perfectly.
Let it Be... the lyrics alone without the music would win hands down.. ad the music and its the best
I grew up hearing them, as they came to the country during my early childhood. I was more of a Monkey's fan than a Beatles one.
I did sort of like their "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"
what is your favorite Beatles song? "Here Comes the Sun" . i like that song cuz there always a new day.
I'm with Dan R. Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Oh this one is easy!!
Michelle - my stepmother used to sing it to me all the time, obviously because of my name, and now my husband sings it to me as well. :)
Till there was you...
Eleanor Rigby,, I love this one because it decribe a perfect lady,,
ob-la-Di Ob-la- Da was another favorite,, it was just a silly song,
As a 4EVER Beatles fan, I loved all their songs. And this song "I'll Follow The Sun" still brings a tear to my eye...
My first choice is "Ask Me Why"
My second choice is "Anna"
I also love "From Me To You", "She Loves You", and "I Want To Hold Your Hand"
Eleanor Rigby
Hey Jude
Norwegian Wood
Eleanor Rigby is one of my favorite songs and would be in my top list for overall favorite songs. The band I was in we would perform this song every time.
Hands down it's "Revolution" for me!
There are so many to choose from. To pick one song would be a diffcult decision for any one. I am a George Harrison fan, so i would have to pick "Here Comes The Sun" from Abby Road.
"Lady Madonna" I just can't sit still when I hear it.
"I Am the Walrus," goo goo goo joob. Um...how exactly is George Harrison a "living legend," as he was described in the email, given that he died 8 years ago? Just curious.
Regards
Semolina Pilchard.
Really, really hard question. I'm going to go with I Want To Hold Your Hand.
strawberryfields
it is so hard to pick one, so i guess i will pick my favorite george composition, "love you to," since the prize is a george prize!
My son has a thing for Taxman right now, so I guess I'd go with that.
Call me crazy (um, not really), but my favourite Beatles song is Helter Skelter. It's awesome... except for the whole Manson hearing a horrible message in it thing.
McCartneys song to Julian as a baby, Beautiful boy.
"A Day In the Life" for sure!
cathie p mine is "let it be"
My dad and i loved the Hey Jude song. It was our favorite.
"Life Goes On" is one of my favorites.
Yellow Submarine!
My favorite would have to be "Let it Be" I love the melody and lyrics go so well together.
I like Come Together a lot it has great music and words to this song.
Maxwell's Silver Hammer.
'Blackbird'. Great harmonies.
This is too hard, but since we are talking about George I have to say "I Need You".
I would have to say my favorite is "Eight Days A Week".
I love the Beatles! My favorite song would probably be "Two of Us"
This is a tough decision. As I was reading everyone's selections I kept thinking " yeah that is my favorite". I am going to settle for Revolution.
I've been doing the same thing as I read down through everyone's favorites. But I guess if I have to pick one, it might be "Blackbird."
It was really hard to choose just one. But one of the ones that is towards my top faves is "Come Together" -- a song that is way before it's time, truly great.
This is my favorite, too. <3
I love the song Hey Jude. This song aeems to put me back in time to when I learned to ride my bike. I remember my parents playing this at our barbeque the day i learned to do it on my own. I always think of this song when I hear the bands name. There was no other band like this band for sure, but ELO was a band that seemed to have Beattles inspiration in thier music.
I sure would not mind that George Harrison CD set.
Baby its you
"In My Life", because it represents some important things for me. Mainly for the exquisite craftsmanship, which represents the best of Lennon and McCartney. Together, Lennon's darkness was balanced by McCartney's light. It's easy to see what happened when they separated: neither was as artisically successful alone as they were together. McCartney quickly became a sugary pop star who created too much unexceptional music with only a few gems. Lennon, always considered the more serious musician, was highly overrated because of a few songs, most notably "Imagine".
It also reminds me of my present girlfriend, because she means so much to me.
Why Don't We Do it in the Road?
One of the most uncluttered and direct love songs ever written. Admittedly "Something" is much more nuanced, but rock and "subtle" have always been at odds. George was the most creative one. Ringo was the smart one. Proof? Barbara Bach. Lennon was the over rated one. Proof? Yoko. But even atheists need their own christ and he fit the bill.
Well, lots to choose from, but since no one has said this one and probably no one was going to: The Fool on the Hill.
Revolution because in 1968 I went to Monterrey, Mexico with my Mom and siblings to visit some friends there. I was only nine years old then but at that time this song was really hitting it big all over the world. The teens of the family that we visited all wanted me to read to them the lyrics to the song Revolution and to sing it with them and to ultimately translate the song to them. One of my fondest memories with songs from the Beatles.
My first record (a 45 rpm) at almost 5 years old was Help!
Grew up with the Beatles so I would have to say that I love all of them!!
Something in the Way She Moves... for a slow song. It's Been A Hard Day's Night for a fast one.
Here Comes the Sun. Far, far, far and away my favorite.
The song I think of when I think of the Beatles is " She Loves You " , so will go with that as a favorite.
