An encore broadcast from September 25, 2007.
Tony Lopez and Mark Wheat joined me this week to discuss rapper Lupe Fiasco's multi-hued release "The Cool," British it-girl-of-the-moment Kate Nash's debut "Made of Bricks," and the collaboration between The Clash's Mick Jones and Generation X's Tony James called Carbon/Silicon, whose first official full length is called "The Last Post."

Tom Jones circa 1986? I was chaperoning my mother-in-law.
Prince's Purple Rain tour?
Or the Village People ca 1990? (they were free tickets, what can I say)
I'd have to say that there were a few shows my own band has put on that I wish I had not attended....
I've taken my mother to see Neil Diamond and Jimmy Buffet, but I was not embarrassed by either. Neil actually rocked the joint and Jimmy, well, he's Jimmy. I didn't know my mom was a "Parrothead". I think my oldest sister was more embarassed than I ever would have been. I thought it was hilarious.
I'd have to say the Further Fest. too many smelly hippies and really loud squeely music that this little goth chick's brain couldn't handle.
I saw the Spin Doctors with free tickets my friend won. It was a riverboat cruise in Philadelphia. I loved it. I also saw them on the first Hoard Tour.
Phish was at that same Hoard Tour show. Tony, I can kind of relate to your comment since that's the only time I cared to see them, lol.
I would have loved to see the Prince Purple Rain Tour!
Well my mother drug me to see Leo Sayer and Barry Mannilow when I was still a child, but I suppose those wouldn't count since I didn't have a choice, heh. I also had to work a Backstreet Boys concert at the Georgia Dome. That was sheer torture.
Even when I think of some of my odd musical tastes at times, I really enjoyed the Rick Springfield, Madonna, Motley Crue, Janes Addiction, and some of the other one-time concerts I attended. I guess there are no regrets here.
Third concert...Spin Doctors.
How many people say the Spin Doctors anyway?! I bet this is the most the Spin Doctors have been discussed since 1995!
there are two that are a close second; Stryper or Hootie and the Blowfish
Second Concert: Barry manilow
My sister got to see Liberace!
All three TOTALLY cool!!!
Goodness, we've collectively seen some embarrassing shows.
I think Shaun takes the cake. He saw Stryper in their bumblebee spandex, Nelson & Kevin Cronin of REO & Hootie and the Blowfish...ouch!
I must come clean. I saw Hootie and the Blowfish at the height of Hootiedom at Midway Stadium in the mid-90's.
Now that I have that off my chest...I saw Hank Williams Jr. too!
I like finishing first, most times - but some how I am not so proud of this victory
You did not ask, but my biggest regret at missing a show. I had front row center seats in Portland, Maine to see Elvis Presley the night after he died. Even fat and bloated, Elvis was still the King.
I was surprised to find out when I got the venue (a rodeo arena) Star Search contest winner Saywer Brown.
I actually saw this group live.
My younger cousin, a huge fan of said group, told me her mom would let her go see Joey-Joe if I was the chaperone. What the he** can you say to a preteen with boy band in her eyes?
In other news, I ended up holding all the coats while my cousin and her friend screamed their voices away. It was actually a pretty good visual show - I wouldn't know about sound, I couldn't hear it over the collective screaming.
I also saw The Jetts at the State Fair, also junior high maybe even elementary school.
With all the holiday cheer, i wanted to spread a comment to you in hopes you send one back my way! Enjoy your holidays!
So much for the "mature" audience!
