12. Brightness Reef by David Brin - SF - ( C-)
This was the start of the second series of the Uplift universe. As much as I love Startide Rising and The Uplift Wars (both well deserved Hugo award winners.), this book I disliked as much. Only read if you are a real fan of the Uplift universe or have to read every thing by David Brin.
13. Infinity Shore by David Brin. – SF - (B)
14.Heaven Reach by David Brin - SF – (C+)
These were the second and third books in the second trilogy of the Uplift universe. The second was much better but the third was a big letdown. Brin's just left the characters you loved and care about stop. No really ending. I can't recommend this second series.
15. Dawn for a Distant Earth by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. – SF – (B)
16. The Silent Warrior by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. – SF – (B)
17. The Endless Twilight
by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. – SF – (B)
I am a lover of L.E. Modesitt, Jr writing. This was his first trilogy, The Forever Hero. Again a primitive human learn and becomes superior to a advance race. A very good space opera.
18. The Siege by Peter David. – SF - (B-)
A novel about StarTrek : Deep Space Nine, the first season. A darker then normal for Peter David but brought back a lot of the wonder of the first season.
19. A Stitch in Time by Andrew Robinson – SF - (A-)
To me, Deep Space Nine is the second best SF show I have seen. And one of the reasons was the tailor, Garak, the Cassadian. This book is his autobiography (Garak's) written by the actor who played him. It is simply wonderful. I really felt I was listening to Garak telling his life story before DSN, at DSN , and what happen after. I was so impress by his writing I looked up his e-mail address to tell him what a great job he did. Now I didn't think I have ever saw him with out makeup. I found out , he was in one of my favorite movies when I was young, Dirty Harry!!! He played the Scorpio Killer ! So far one of the best books I read this year.
20. The Crystal City by Orsan Scott Card. – Fantasy - (C+)
Book six in the Alvin Maker series. A very bland story which nothing interesting happens. Card is just resting on his writing reputation.
21. Mission of Gravity by Hal Clement - SF- (B-)
A classic hard SF. Definably from the 50"s style of SF.
22. Star Trek Memories by William Shatner. – autobiography (C)
A run of the mill story which I heard before. The only thing he discovers how much his fellow actors hated him.
Part 3 to come.

Here my top 12 favorite SF TV series of all-time.
1. Farscape -- Inventive and pushing the envelope.
2. Babylon 5 -- When it first came out I saw a couple of different episodes. Wasn't impressed then. My wife later got me watch in sequence by ordering from Netflix. Was I hooked. Season 2 through Season 4 was simply outstanding.
3. Red Dwarf -- This British SF comedy has me still laughing years later. The songs Tongue-tied and Rimmer's song are in my head today. You can hear and watch them by going to youtube.
4. Firefly -- Too short but will never be forgotten.
5. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine -- Captain Sisko is the best Star Trek Captain ever. Where as Kirk was too gun happy and Picard talked too much.
6. Earth 2 -- An incredible show. Still wish someone would write or film an ending for this fine family show.
7. VR 5 -- Only a few episodes were made and fewer show. I think this was the first show Penn(Of Penn and Teller.) guest starred in.
8. The Invaders -- The first one with Rod Thinnes. Still get goose bumps when I see that hand gesture.
9. Quantum Leap -- Another show my wife had me watch and I fell in love with. But it had the worst ending of all time. I haven't been able to watch it since.
10. Battlestar Gallactia (New) I didn't like the first one but really love this one. On pins and needles for this final season.
11. Star Trek : The Next Generation -- Lousy title but good show.
12. The Crusades -- A spin off of Babylon 5 that stopped way too soon. The concept of tech-mages was excellent.
I have been reading SF/mysteries for a long time. ( I cut my teeth reading Tom Swift, Jr and Hardy Boys when I was 5.) I have read SF like authors Julie Verne, H. G. Wells, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Doc E.E. Smith, Egar Rice Burroughs to today's Modesitt, Hamilton, and many others.
