This was one of the oldest books in my TBR bookcase. I must have picked it up over 20 years ago. The pages are yellowing and a little brittle. But I had just found the final book in this series. So I decide to start it.
The cover blurb screams it is as good as Dune. The back is a list of authors, all praising this book. Poul Anderson, Roger Zelazny, George R.R. Martin, Michael Bishop a small list of SF writers.
It is nowhere in the league of Dune. And I wonder if any of these writers had read this book.
It seem to written by a young male. All the women are naked and aliens have breasts, even the male ones. There are drawings in the book to make sure you know this.
The storyline is a space mission. While checking out Saturn, they discover a huge alien life form. The story is told well and gets much better by the end. In fact by the end I want to read the next book. This story is really a fantasy then SF. I give it a B-.
