Today Sci-fi / Fantasy Quotes From Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein # 1

Some of my favorite quotes are from science fiction or fantasy books, movies, and TV shows.  Here is some quotes from Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers. Another multi-Hugo award winner.

Heinlein is the man responsible for shaping my political views that remain to this day. When I was in Jr. High School, my English teacher wouldn't let me do a book report on his writing because she considered him a heretic.

RH molded so much of my thinking from a very early age, when I began to read his work. He makes so much sense I coudn't understand why the world didn't work the way it should. Or at least the way I thought it should when reading his works.

I always liked SST but the idea that individuals must be ready to sacrifice for society always bothered me. I did like his idea of earned citizenship and one that carries burdens (that also shows up in Pournelle's CoDomion series around Sparta) better...let those who wish no burdens be watchers and not participants.

It may be the maternal part of me, but I never liked his books that much. The idea in many that one could spawn family after family and move on without any contact offends me. So, of course, I didn't like the incest parts either.
I didn't read SST, maybe I should now.
