I had to work from 10pm Friday night to 10am Saturday morning. Luckily at my job (I work in a group home for developmentally disabled adults), I can watch TV. I was able to catch the repeat of the BSG season premiere at 11pm, after I made sure everyone was tucked in bed.
I took copius amount of notes during the show. And after I got all my chores done and before the residents started waking up for the day, I wrote my review. I was going to type it up when I got home, but I was tired. I had worked a total of 16 hours yesterday. I had a 4 hour inservice I had to go to earlier in the day Friday. So I wrote it up when I got up for the day instead.
Notes from the season three finale:
![]() Everyone on the bridge of the Battlestar Galactica listens to Starbuck's and Apollo's conversation. President Roslin says this is a Cylon trick. Lt. Gaeta confirms, and double confirms Colonial Fleet codes. Starbuck tells Apollo not to lose her this time as she heads for the battle. She shoots a Cylon raider and blood splatters across her windshield. Commander Adama orders Colonel Tigh to get every pilot there is out there in the battle. Tigh doesn't respond. Adama asks if Tigh "What the hell is wrong with you?" and time seems to slow down. Tigh calmly responds, "I'm okay, Bill." as he raises a gun and shoots Adama between the eyes. Time returns to normal, Tigh gives himself a shake and calls for all pilots. In the hangar deck, Anders voices his concerns that his Cylon programming could make him turn on the humans out there in battle. Tyrol tells him he is the man he wants to be, "You are Samuel T. Anders!" Athena hears this as she walks up and wants to know who the frak else would he be? Anders gets in his viper. Some women lead Baltar away to an unused compartment they found. An injured Cylon raider crashes into Pyxis. President Roslin states that there were 600 souls on that ship. The Space Park and the Astral Queen are also damaged. And she asks, "How did they find us?" The camera pans across Tigh and Tory. Anders tries to shoot a Cylon raider on Seelix's tail. Time slows again. Anders just can't seem to figure out how to shoot. The Cylon raider flips around to face Anders. The red sweeping scans Anders. The raider gets Anders' retinal scan, and all cylons inexplicably retreat. Tigh asks why they are retreating, they were winning. Tory says something may have changed. Opening credits! There are 39,698 survivors now. The three women that have snuck Baltar away lead him to what looks like a makeshift temple. And they all seem to worship him because they stand and bow their heads as he walks past. Then he comes to the Baltar Alter. "Right..." Everyone in the hangar deck stares as Kara climbs out of her bloody viper. She tells the chief she needs him to delevop the film in her recon cameras. She wants to know what's going on, why everyone's staring. Apollo grabs her and hugs her. Anders hugs her. She wants to know why he's in a flight suit. He tells her he finished flight school a week ago. Adama orders everyone back, Marines pull their weapons on her. Adama orders her to sickbay for Doc Cottle to check out. She wants to know what the hell is going on, she's gone for six hours and everyone flips out. Apollo tells her she's been gone for over two months. Back at the makeshift temple, Six visits Baltar. A woman watches Baltar interact with his imaginary friend. She thinks he's praying. She tells Baltar that she feels empty when she prays to the gods. Six, watching all of this, tells Baltar he must tell her about the one true god. Baltar starts muttering about the one true god as the woman puts his hands on her boobs. The fall to the floor and make love at the Alter of Baltar. While Six watches. Eeww! In the Ready Room, Adama tells Starbuck that her Cylon test came back negative. President Roslin wants to know what happened. Starbuck says she took some heavy hits from a Cylon raider and passed out. When she came to, she was orbiting a planet that matches Earth's description. It's position and sun match the starchart they saw in the Tomb of Athena back on Kobol. She took some pictures, put her viper on a return route and then boom she was back with the fleet. She remembers a gas giant with rings, a flashing triple star, and a comet. Back in the hangar, Tyrol reports to Adama, Apollo, Tigh, Roslin, and Tory that the ship Starbuck returned in is perfect. Not a scratch, dent, ding, nothing. Like it's brand new. The nav computer is blank also. Roslin says the Cylons are counting on their feelings for Starbuck to blindside them. As she and Adama speculate that there could still be Cylons among them that are just lying in wait to ambush them, the camera pans across Tigh, Tory, and Tyrol all looking guilty. Little Derek's mother brings her sick toddler from sickbay back to Baltar (who was sound asleep with the woman from before) to pray over the little boy and make him whole again. Everyone watches. Derek's mother asks if the one true god doesn't want her little boy to live. The four secret Cylons - Anders, Tigh, Tyrol, and Tory, are meeting in secret. They ponder why the Cylon raider didn't fire, and why Anders didn't fire either. President Roslin visits the Six in the brig. She wants to talk about the visions they shared in the opera house. And about the Final Five. She wants to know if Six knows if Starbuck is one of them. Six says she is programmed to try not to think about them. Six says the Five are close. She can feel them. Starbuck explains to Adama that her ability to find Earth is a feeling connected to the Ionian Nebula, and every jump takes that feeling away a little bit more. They jump and she says they are going the wrong way. She says that if he loves her like a daughter like he claims, then trust her. He tells her he can't afford to. Adama and Apollo sit in the pilot's briefing room. Adama thanks Apollo for helping during the battle. He offers Apollo his wings back. Apollo declines, would rather work in the government and try to do some good there. Apollo asks his dad what if Zak had climbed out of that viper instead of Starbuck? Would it matter if he had always been a Cylon? Would it change how they feel about him? Back at the Temple of Baltar, Baltar visits the sleeping Derek and prays to the one true god to save the boy. And if the one true god must take someone, take him (Baltar) instead. One of Baltar's follows takes him to an empty community bathroom. She gives him a shave and a haircut. Angry men lurk outside. The angry men attack Baltar and his follower. As he is trying to slit Baltar's throat, Six appears to him. Asks him if he was sincere in his prayer about taking his life instead of little Derek's? He says yes. The woman is suddenly able to get away from her attacker and bashes the skull of the angry man trying to kill Baltar. She takes Baltar back to the their little temple, and Derek is healed. They all claim it is a miracle. Starbuck visits her picture on the memory wall, wondering why no one has taken it down. She wonders if maybe the Cylons cloned her back on Caprica or brainwashed her. Anders says if she's a Cylon, she's always been one, like Boomer. He says it doesn't change who she is. He would still love her if she was a Cylon. She says he is a better person than her, because if she found out he was a Cylon, she'd kill him. The ship jumps again, farther away from the nebula. Starbuck grabs her head like she's got a headache and says they are going the wrong way. She's starting to freak out saying she needs to get to Roslin. Anders tries to calm her while the Marines that have been tailing her start moving in. She attacks a Marine and takes his sidearm, knocks out the other Marine and then Anders. She takes off looking for Roslin. She finds Roslin sleeping in guest quarters. She uses tear gas on the door guard and enters. She pulls the gun on Roslin. TO BE CONTINUED!!! ~*~ Next week's previews: A new Six says the Final Five are in the Colonial Fleet. With the Humans. The new Six wants Brother Cavill to stop lobotomizing the raiders. Starbuck is in the brig, writhing on the floor, screaming they are going the wrong way. I gotta say, I love the space battles. They really spare no expense for the SFX. They're fast paced and not cheesey at all. But all the guilty looks between Anders, Tigh, Tory, and Tyrol should have made someone suspicious. I loved the season opener. My sister has been saying Zak Adama is a Cylon, because way back in the beginning Leoban said Adama was a Cylon, but he never specified who. And with Apollo (Lee Adama) askin his dad about what if Zak had come back instead of Starbuck... just gives that thought more fire. I like scruffy Baltar better than clean cut Baltar. But if it looks like Baltar is going to be the one true god's messiah then he needs to look the part, I guess. |
