So it's been ages since the end of Season Three, and BSG fans have been able to speculate like mad over the answer to that mind-numbing question: WHO IS THE FINAL CYLON MODEL???
Now that we know four of the final five, there are a number of people left that could very well be the final model. I have my theories... Here is one of them.
One of the strongest theories is that the it's President Laura Roslin. It only makes sense that after the Twelve Colonies were destroyed, the office of the President was destroyed and all officers straight down the office of Education are killed. It was revealed early on that sh was romantically involved with President Adar before the attacks on the Colonies. So it seems incredibly suspicious that she winds up in a position of power, when she was so far from it to begin with. It also puts her in close connection to Bill Adama, someone the Cylons obviously want to keep a very close eye on.
Her cancer could be explained as a genetic Cylon mutation, after all, it was Hera's blood that saved her last time. Her connection to Hera is again strengthened when in the final two episodes of Season Three she was connected to the dream of Hera along with Sharon and Caprica Six... Why would she share a connection with them unless she too was a Cylon, and she knew that protecting Hera was the only way to ensure the continuation of "God's Children". I have also thought that it is possible that her cancer was an experiment to make her more vulnerable, and less likely to be pinpointed as a Cylon Agent.
In mid-season one she was haunted by the dream of Leoben, who seemed almost to be calling out to her before he was spotted on the ship and then turned over to Starbuck for questioning. Why was she dreaming of him (other than her visions and hallucinations from the Kamala Extract?)
Her current aid turned out to be a Cylon, who better to look after her than another, more powerful sleeper agent?
She also experienced the visions that put them all on the direct track to Earth to begin with, and the Cylons want to find Earth just as badly as the humans.
It's hardly ever been speculated on the show, what if she was an agent? She is always focused on as a character of order, trying to rebuild the human race, but there are very few moments in which we see her alone (there are some that put a dent in the theory...) and that itself seems somewhat suspicious. She is almost always with her AID or with Adama.
I think it is also ironic that she fought so hard to keep Gaius Baltar out of the office of the President, wanting to hang on to that power herself.
I could go on, but in truth, she is really the last person I want to find out is a Cylon. I was incredibly disappointed that after Chief spent so much time contemplating whether or not he was a Cylon only to find out that he was all along... And Colonel Tigh and Sam Anders... Chief, Anders and Tigh were key figures in the Cylon resistance, so I can't wait to hear how they explain that.
I do feel that the final Cylon has got to be somebody big, otherwise they wouldn't have held them in their hooded, Cylon darkness for so long. (either that, or Moore and Eick don't actually know who the last Cylon is, and they're flipping quarters over it as I write this.) Perhaps I'll type up another one of my twisted theories this week. I'm all amped up for Season Four, and Sci-Fi is playing so many little teasers it's been great. I can't wait until next Friday!

:) It's such a great show. My husband watched it right after the mini series, but I didn't, and then I got sucked in and couldn't turn back. It was like a black hole, but a good one with lots of interesting plot devices and characters.
Of course I could be wrong, too.
Good observations.
