I'm saddened to bid goodbye to legendary scifi writer Arthur C. Clarke, who died recently at 90. His work is much more than 2001: A Space Odessy. So many of his novels were brilliant. The Rama series is a great place to discover Clarke's work. He had an amazingly sharp mind. It's sad that he's gone, but his work will survive as long as humanity.
