Books I read for January 2008 - ChickJ

Hey Laura Cushing told me about your group of reading 50 books in a year.  I just love that ideas, so here I am.  Heres my reads for Jan 2008.

1. Chokehold ( The New Destroyer) by Warren Murphy and James Mullancey.

This is a modern day pulp series started in 1971.  So far there have been about 145 books in the series.  It is about a paid assassian for the US government who kills the too powerful people who the law can't touch. It is men adventure, SF , fantasy, martial arts, and lots of very black humor.  I will write a longer review of this series later.

2. A Beautiful Mind by Sylia Nasar

An excellent biography of one the greatest math mind who descends into madness and comes out again.  ( Was made into a good movie.)

3. The Second Generation by Weiss and Hickman

A Dragonlance novel.  Pure fantasy. All short stroies of the characters of the Dragonlance world.

4.  The Dragons of Summer Flame by Weiss and Hickman

A standard, very well written fantasy serie which was to be the end of lots of the characters.  Normal ones, a great warrior, a wizard, half elf,  and others.  One great creation is the Kendars.  Orginal and riot to any story. A kendar is a small, human like creature that takes anything he get his hands on, has no fear, and seems to find the craziest ways out.

 5. Manifold : Time  by Stephen Baxter.

A very hard SF story.  A little depressing but high science .
