I've been looking at these guys for the last three years wondering if they are any good. The other boards I've jumped to say stay away at all costs.. while their own people crave about PA's goodness
My question to you my fellow gatherers is simple. Do any of you have any experience with Publish America, they are listed on preditors and editors as highly not recommended to do business with. But, they have such a quick turnaround on books etc..
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
J.G.

it give a complete run down on all agents.publishers
great site
My third book, Whisper My Name stayed on a low listing (better ratings) for several months and I know many people in my area who purchased the book. Guess what? I was told it only sold 2 books and anyway you slice it...me thinks something is amiss! In order to prove you have sold books to anyone, you have to have the sales slip. I am not talking about those books they expect you to sell. I am talking about those persons who did not go through PA to buy one but through a .com site. Yes, the say it takes at least 6 months for any reflective sale through a .com site to reach them....geesh, Louise...it's been years!
For anyone who wants to go with PA, it is YOUR choice but please do some research on other avenues. If anyone wants you to pay money up front (scam artists) run to the highest hills because you will only create more problems for yourself.
There are legitimate publishers out there as well as agents to represent your works. My current publisher Champage Books in Calgary, Canada is remarkable. Yes, they are POD but guess what...my books are actually returnable from a brick and mortar store should they not sell. They also do "red line" editing, in that, if your work has present, past tense verbage mixed together...someone is going to tell you. It's not "select the type of editing you want" and hope your book turns out the way the public wants it to be and then be disappointed if errors are plenty on every page. They do not publish everyone who wants to be published but select those books whose "hook" grabs them from the get go.
I do wish you well if you decide to go with PA but my advice, if you want to take it, is to do more research. There couldn't be so many unhappy authors if something wasn't wrong.

My first poetry book was published with " Publish America". The release date was April 5th, 2007. I have no idea how many books been sold yet. I'm expecting my first payment in August. They offer you 12.50% on each book sold. They do not charge their authors to publish the books.
I haven't had enough experience with them yet to really give you insight of what they really do. I do know, they list your book or books online to the popular websites world-wide. My title is " By The Servant's Hand" it's on barnes&nobles. amazon.com, borders. target.com, publishamerica, google.
If you decide to g owith them, share with us your experience with them. I'll try to keep you all imformed as well. My book with them was choosen the book of the week. This was exciting for me! And a big surprize, I wasn't expecting this. I wish you well success with whoever you chose to publish your book.
