Poughkeepsie author Jay Gehlert's first novel, "Quiver: Terror in Lupine Valley," will make you do just that: quiver with fright.
This thriller is the first in what Gehlert anticipates will be a heart-stopping trilogy. The book, which takes place in a small town outside Seattle, tells of a gruesome werewolf attack that took place decades ago. That horrible incident killed the father of Grant Raymond, who was 8 years old at the time of the attack and is now the town sheriff.
The legendary evil werewolf makes a startling reappearance, and Raymond, with the help of his girlfriend, must face the terrible creature - and some deep dark secrets - as they try to save the town and each other.
Gehlert said "Quiver" took seven years to write, edit and publish.
The busy author was born in Newburgh and graduated from SUNY New Paltz. He has already written the sequel to "Quiver," "Quiver 2: Full Cycle," about a new breed of werewolves, and he has a third book in the process of being written titled "Contagion," which tells of a deadly virus that hits South Africa.
The $13.95 book is available through all the major bookseller Web sites, including www.amazon.com, www.barnesandnoble.com, www.borders.com and others
