Doodling Away In Seasonal Joy

Grinding out the miles, pursuit of desires
Common float decorated, hopes and dreams
Taking time to smell the roses, recline
Dial up a number, go down a new street
Basically characteristic, time torn
Assimilated adjustments, rewards

Gravity realities, some escaped
Glass retaining half full, empty can wait
Patiently, like waiting on the teapot
Certainly no restrictions, languished spot
And doodling away, a leaf falling
Listening to sounds outside my window sing

Gearing up or down, finding comfort zone
Missing warmer breezes, colors abound
Cold foggy morning, breathe out antonym
Let the chill fill up, sunny day drops in
Transitioning rain drops, bare trees recall
These steps taken before, clarion pause

Observation lags, stepping gingerly
Stop and wait, look around, let nature bring
Feelings of where it went, horizons tend
And clouds are thickening, tree branches bend
And winds come howling, there is nevermore
Today has reason, a key, an open door
Be happy and enjoy seasonal joy

Each season I resist the change . Don't want to let it go but when it does than I adjust and realize I enjoy the new season just as much. Just as I complained about summer fading I will complain about autumn waning but the first time I step outside and see fresh snow in the moonlight I will be in love with it in the momment.

Most young people have no idea the problems associated with trying to assimilate a new lifestyle. Even in our own culture there is culture shock when going to another state. I hopw all is well from Billy & you. TY.

Not much snow it Texas but this year we may get quite a lot, it's supposed to be a cold one. My yard squirrels have really grown a thick fuzzy coat and the oak trees have out done themselves this year with acorns. The woolly caterpillars are woolier than ever and my gopher moved.

A beautiful reminder to appreciate and enjoy every day and every season in every way.

Like Lee, I hate winter but I have to admit there is a beauty in the freshly fallen snow, especially the kind that sparkles.

Each season contains its own beauty and you have helped me to remember what I knew as a kid. Happiness comes from discovering the excitement waiting for us in each new day.

The last two lines resonated with me particularly. October has not historically been a good month for me. But the last few days I have had a lot of reason to feel:

William, isn't that the truth? ("Angels whispering in my ear.") I have occasionally written a piece that once it was written, I could swear that it wrote itself. I truly believe that it is the angels whispering to me, to write something that someone needed, at just the right time they needed to hear it. I strive to be a better writer, but I know sometimes I never did it on my own. What a profound thought, and so appropos to what I felt when I first read this poem earlier.

These insights certainly DO help drown out the cacaphony of devisive voices (that you mentioned in your comment to my earlier comment).

I'm going to try to find one of those such pieces I wrote a few years ago, and post it here on Gather.....in a short while.

Thank you again for bringing some peace and quiet, into my day.

Too often a writer tries to emulate another writer's style. This seldom lets creativity breathe. A writer should always listen to their own voice because an Angel talks directly to you and not through your thought of another.

Ah, the transition from one season to the next! Fall here in Minnesota is always filled with glorious color. Even in the rain, the maple trees glow, as if they are lit from within. But I can never fully appreciate fall because I know winter is just around the bend. Winter is beautiful but also ruthless and unforgiving. A beautiful poem, Bill!

I've never been to Minnesota, but I liked the TV show Coach. I've always found trees have much more vibrant colors when it rains a bit as the colors come out. I thank you for your nice words and I've one more comment.

I'd be happy to enjoy the seasonal joy if it did not involve SNOW!

Going down a new street is a favorite activity of mine. Whenever I travel especially, I love to walk around towns and look at new places. Having lived in the same town most of my life, it's kind of hard to find new streets here.

You might want to take an aerial view of your city. You could do it the easy way, but I feel sure you'd rather take photographs from a hot air balloon.

I will consider that idea, maybe in about 50 years. I've flown over town in LARGE airplanes and that's about all I'm willing to do.
