She walked along the shoreline, moonlight guiding her footsteps. Waves kissed her ankles, and the breeze whipped through her hair. She didn't care. For this moment, she didn't have to look perfect. For this moment, she could be herself.
The moon's reflection on the dark water looked eerie, but the foam-capped waves beckoned to her. She turned and found herself walking into the vastness of a place where she had always found calm...a place that had always been her refuge from an often cruel world.
The water felt cool on her parched skin, and she reveled in the sensation. She felt one with nature as the water rose higher and higher. Peace filled her. She felt a blessed relief. No longer would she have to fight the demons that plagued her. No longer would she have to see the stares of those who saw her as less than. No longer would she have to struggle within herself to find goodness. No longer would she have to search for love.
She was walking into the arms of God.
