I Promise

I try to avoid making promises because I forget as soon as I'm done talking to you. Wait! Do appointments count as promises?

I promised myself to stop eating mindlessly. I work on that promise every day.

If you make appointments and keep them Lydia I guess that they can be considered promises kept. If that's the case though I have broken many promises recently with the fact that I keep rescheduling a doctor appointment.

You go Stacie! That is a good promise to make and a very hard one to keep!

I promised a friend of my daughter and my daughter to get them each a hand held game system. They wanted different ones. It was a reward for helping me in the house a day here and there to help me. I was able to get them the ones they wanted on ebay and they are both now happy campers. I rarely promise as I don't like to break promises and sometimes life happens. This time I knew extra money would come soon and and it did! They worked hard and deserved it and it was better than handing them money for them each time they worked for them to waste it on little stuff.

I promised my son that if he was good at Menards tonight, we would go get chicken after we left. I would have kept my promise, but he decided he wanted something else when we got to the restaurant.

Been there done that Sue but I hope and in fact I am very sure that the second time I make that same promise it will be kept! Hopefully maybe the same will be for you some day too!

Heather, those Hand held systems are cool but they can be expensive. It is very cool that you "saved up" their chore money and got them one big thing instead of the usual small things that kids discard so quickly.

Carla, with you son being a smart young man. does this mean in his eyes you still owe him chicken at a later dat?

I promised my grandson that if he would quit failing in school & better his attitude I would take him on his first plane ride to Florida. He did and I did. I don't make promises I can't keep.

Nancy, that is a great one!! You sound like a great grandmother! Well not a greatgrandmother but a grandmother that is great at it!

Sounds good Debbie! How many years has it been? Hopefully there will be many decades more before that promise's "statue of limitations" runs out! I say the age of 95 is pretty good for both of you or one of you depending on who is older. I have always thought that if I lived that long as am married to the person that I am so madly in love with (Terry) I wish to die within minutes (natural causes of course) of when she does!

Glen, thanks for the answer on Deb! 25 years is fantastic! I am also so sorry to hear of the death of your grandparents Glen. I know that no matter how long ago it happened it is always something that continues to hurt parts of your heart. I feel the same way about my mom who has been gone for 13 years now and would have celebrated her 83rd birthday on November 9th. My dad is still alive but I think that he was such a changed man after her death. I also understand what you mean about the deaths of your grandparents being within one year to the day of each other. Ironic it is that it was on the same exact date. The thing is that I think after you are with someone that long and they die so much of yourself is taken away with them that you begin to die on that very same day. I think the cause of death in a lot of those events are explained in medical terms but in reality I think the real cause of death is a broken heart!

Terry, will you give me at least 25 years honey? Or maybe as I have always said hopefully at least 50!!!!!

I try not to make promises anymore : ) But I did promise till death do us part 17 years ago, and we are still together.

The last promise I made was to my oldest son. I promised never to give up on him as he fought demons like addiction. To this day I've stood by him. He's now been sober nearly 5 months.

Congratulations Kimberly and they same to your son. I am sure the fact that you promised him that you wouldn't give up on him is one of the factors in his trying so hard to beat the demons of addicition.

Bonnie, I hope there is at least 17 more years times two for you and the significant other.

Glen at this rate Terry's children are actually going to be older than her in a couple of years. She does look very good though for her being just a little older than 21!! Not to mention all of her inside beauty that serves to compliment her outside beauty well. I am sure that you know all about that right since you have had a beautiful one of your own for 25 years now?

Tha last promise I made was to help my brother! And by all means, that's what I'm doing! I'm gathering for him and giving him all the money I earn here!

I'm also getting ready to start the raffle I'm doing for him to raise some more money!

Jill, the key word that you said here is "STILL" which means you are hanging in there and trying to do what is right for you!

I don't remember what the last promise I made was but when I make a promise, I keep it. If I don't think I can keep the promise, then I don't make it to begin with.
