Today my husband, daughter, and I went out to eat. On the way home, we had to pass the Humane Society so I asked my husband to stop so I could look at the animals. I told him I wouldn't bring any home (lie, lie, lie). Mind you, we already had 2 dogs, 8 cats, 7 rats, 2 gerbils, and 2 tanks of tropical fish. The Humane Society had more cats than usual and some very friendly and pretty ones. I am a real cat lover, especially of cats that love to be held and petted. In the first room, I found a beautiful silver tabby female cat named Kitty. She was reported to be a year old but looks more like 8 months old at the most. She was so affectionate and loved just laying in my arms being held and petted. She laid there and enjoyed my attention for about a half hour and never got the urge to try to leave. I fell in love with her. But, dutifully, I put her back in the cage and moved on to the next room with cats. There I saw a gorgeous lynx point Siamese cat with ice blue eyes named Shani. Our last Siamese had died a couple of summers ago at the age of 23. Since then, I'd wanted another Siamese, as they are my favorite breed of cat. This cat was reported to be 2 years old, but like the other cat, it's so small that it doesn't look over 8 months old. I think someone made a mistake on the ages. I wanted the Siamese cat, and I wanted the silver tabby cat (my favorite color in cats), and my husband didn't want any more cats (sigh). Of course, my daughter was jumping up and down wanting both cats also. I asked my husband if I could have the 2 cats. He said something to the effect, "Do whatever you want, you will anyway!" That sounded like a yes to me! So, I adopted both cats! Now I could use some name suggestions, as I am not crazy about the names the cats already had. And now I have to get vet appointments for checkups, shots, and spaying for both cats. The Humane Society sent both cats home with their own carriers and handmade kitty mats. I have introduced the new cats to each other and to my cats that I already had and all are getting along well. The new kitties are keeping a low profile right now and napping under the bed. I will be glad when they feel safe enough to come out and play. And I doubt if my husband will EVER let me visit the Humane Society again in this lifetime!

Janet, sorry i don't have any name suggestions, but we have a similar situation - since so many of our elderly dogs have now passed away, we are down to one dog, one inside cat, one semi-feral cat who just got over pneumonia, and one totally feral cat, so we are getting two rescued chihuahuas which my wife fell in love with from the pictures. BUT the shelter gave them names and Lynn isn't happy with their names either and plans to change them... but if I think of another good cat name, will let you know.
God bless you for your compassion toward His small creatures!
We like searching African names on google. This is how we found Rhieon's name.
I have had two girl names in mind and haven't been able to use them since our last two adoptions have turned out to be boys.
I would name the Siamese Isis, an Egyptian goddess.
The tabby looks like Cornelia, the daughter of Scipio Africanus. She was very influential in Roman politics through her sons. I would call her Lea for short.
In the name department, we name ours after historical figures I write about from my friend's ghosttown. Looks like the new female kitten will be Lulu after Lulu Wapplehorst who was the first white bride in the town's mining heyday, unless personality deems otherwise. We also try to find names that go together. We had Clarence and Clanci for years...which got confusing when you shortened Clanci to Clanc when calling them.
And I named the silver tabby Alicia, also a Spanish girl's name. Thanks for the suggestions though.
I would love a flame-point Siamese, but we are full-up on cats (city ordinance).
Congratulations on your newest family members.
I have 2 new ones !
