At one time or another many of us have uttered the phrase 'sometimes you have to laugh, because it's better than crying.' The majority of Americans who support stem cell research certainly wanted to cry when the president used his first, and only, veto to stop legislation easing limits on federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research.
Comedian Lewis Black appeared recently on CNN's Larry King Live and had this to say about frozen embryos:
"It's unbelievable, that frozen embryo thing. Now, how can you say that’s religious? You can't! It's not a religious issue. In what book of the Bible was anything frozen? ... Is there any mention in the Bible of refrigeration? No! So you can't possibly at any time say, 'Oh, y'know, God says...' No, God doesn't say. God, in the Old Testament...he didn't even see freezers coming!
And you know what I did? Since the president thinks they're alive, I've adopted three frozen embryos and I put them in my freezer. And every time when I open it up I go, "You kids stop it!" Because I want to be a good father, but I'm actually going to take them as a tax write-off. And if it works -- if I can get it by the Feds the first time -- I'm going to adopt hundreds of them. You remember the old Amana freezer where you could buy a cow and dump it in? Well, I'm going to have a billion of 'em in there!"
Black gives a whole new meaning to "tax freeze!"

I don't bother with the "news"....I talk to people and make my own decisions on current events from what I actually SEE happening. The media is simply a mass-control medium. As long as you believe what they present, you are at their mercy. Please use your brain and powers of observation to make critical decisions in your lives. The TV is simply a means of controlling how the 'masses' behave.
Has nobody ever read the BOOK "1984" by George Orwell?
It was written in 1949, well before people could even afford a television, and he describes how we live today! Two things can be said for the book...one side can say he outlined the plan that those in power used to create the world we live in, and the other can say he prophecised what was to come, simply on his own powers of observation of the human psychology.
Either way, you have a guidebook to observe for yourselves and see what is happening on nour society today...it's not a pretty sight!
P.S. Funding for this type of research should come from those who wish to invest in these studies....not from us automatically. WE should be able to choose what our tax money is put toward, which would eventually give us control over much much more!
I'm all for dis-banding the current tax structure, and making "tax" a simple 10% sales tax. It removes the "government's" ability to structure the economy based on our income, eliminates loopholes for the rich, and forces EVERYONE in this country, legal or illegal, to pay into the system! We gain control over how much money goes into the treasury simply on nour buying habits. If we don't buy, then the government has to make adjustments so that we CAN buy!
Also, the government would no longer to vote tax increases as carelessly as they currently do.
Have you EVER calculated how much of your paycheck goes to taxes?
If you look beyond your pay stub, you will see that you pay nearly 50% of your income into one form of taxes or another...that's NO WAY to live!
A flat 10% SALES tax would put control back into your hands, be an EQUITABLE plan meaning that the person making $100.00 per week is paying equitably into the system as the person making MILLIONS per week.
THAT's what the founders of this country had in mind....in only 240 years, we have returned to what the founders moved here to escape...that's a sad turn of events, people!

Adult stem cells, on the other hand, are already producing viable cures, right here and right now. Adult stem cells do not raise moral ethical dilemmas. Every dollar spent on embryonic stem cell research is a dollar not being spent on adult stem cell research and a dollar not being spent on real cures for real people who are living among us as I write.
Properly informed, the majority of Americans prefer adult stem cell research.
