How Do We Move Forward and Win the War In Iraq?

The whole Iraq problem is way beyond easy solutions. What bunch of idiots got our country and the whole world into this massive catastrophe? The answer is the Neo-Con Republicans who were planning their Iraq invasion before the United States was attacked on 9-11-01. This fact is not in dispute. The next question is how do we solve the problem of our young people in harm's way with no plan for victory.
There are basically 3 ways to go. Move our troops out of the main combat zones.
A second and more interesting alternative would be to get more combat troops into the hot zone of al Anbar and Bagdad and totally clean the place out once and for all.
This of course would have to be followed up by occupying that area with troops and making a massive sweep of the terrorists and their weapons. This would be bloody and costly but we are already in a bloody and costly situation. The next phase of this plan would also involve placing more well trained border guard/combat troops in key border areas to stop Iran and Syrai from supporting the insrgency.
 With the Republicans facing a mid-term election the President can not change his position on the war and admit that his post invasion plan has been an abject failure. The third alternative would be simply to continue on as we have been and allow the counrty to spiral further into chaos.

The other problem of Iraqi militias killing one another should be solved entirely by the Iraqis who we hope would one day sit down and negotiate a power sharing agreement giving a fair portion of the Oil revenue to the Sunni population. If the Iraqis would rather live in the past world where Sunnis and Shias hate and kill each other there is little the U.S. can do about that poor choice.

At some point in the near future perhaps after thr the U.S. election it will be time to mvoe ahead with a new plan to really try to win the war or get out of Iraq and let the Sunni and Shia continue the age old battle.

So just for this article can we focus on solutions for the sake of our troops and for the lives of innocent civillians all around the world who are eventually going to die because of this Pandora's box that we have opened up.
