Why I Love MiG

In 2005, I was introduced to a man via Rockstar: INXS (Television reality series) that changed my life literally.  Not in the ‘I’m in love’ sort of way… not even in the ‘epiphany of life’ sort of way… more like a ripple of events that made my life richer, fuller and happier.  The man I am speaking of is MiG.  Did MiG change my life himself? No.  But, through knowing and supporting him, I have met people and experienced a lot of things that have truly enhanced my life forever.  All this PLUS he has become my favorite musician and performer.  WOW you say?  Well let’s see what I’m talking about….

 In case you are unfamiliar with Rockstar: INXS, this was a reality series that pitted professional singers against each other to become the lead singer of the band INXS.  When I first found out about the show, I was very skeptical.  I had long been a fan of the previous lead singer of this band, Michael Hutchence, and did not think anyone would be able to replace him.  So the night I watched the show for the first time, I watched thinking I would be disappointed and would probably not continue watching.  However, this performance week, MiG Ayesa performed the classic Kinks song “All Day and All of the Night”.  My jaw dropped to the floor when MiG came on stage and I’ve been hooked ever since.  I had never seen a more genuine star in my life.  Honestly.  So, I watched every week anxiously.  This series also had a reality portion to it… of which MiG equally excelled at.  MiG showed himself to be the down to earth and loving ‘big brother’ type with a streak of honesty and true compassion.  BUT also fierce competitiveness and raw passion for excellence.  MiG deserved to win by merit.  But it was decided that another singer was more “right” for the band INXS. However, MiG’s fans from all over the world voted for him furiously and kept him on the show until the very last night.  And, at the end of this series, somehow the winning for MiG and his fans just keeps getting better and better.  There are no losers in MiG’s world nor his fans world.

After Rockstar:INXS was over – I felt a terrible void.  How could I not continue to see about MiG week to week?  Because of the reality portion of the series thousands of fans felt empty … feeling as if they had truly lost a friend.  That’s how MiG makes you feel.  So, hoping and believing I wasn’t crazy nor the only person feeling this way, I hit the internet trying to find info on MiG.  To my GREAT surprise and pleasure… MiG already had a HUGE fanbase on the net.  He had his own official fansite at the time and also a VERY active fansite that had been active since 1999! http:www.migcentral.com.  I quickly joined these sites and found I wasn’t alone OR crazy!  Soon after that I found Team MiG! http://www.teammigayesa.com.  There I found a home to follow MiG’s career, an outlet for my creativity and many great friends to share a love of music and life with.  I will be forever grateful to MiG indirectly for this because I’ve found lifetime TRUE friends. And now we have his new official site www.mig-music.com that beautifully showcases MiG.  They have awesome contests and tons of ways to keep his fans ACTIVE in supporting his career.  And, there are also many other great fan sites for him around the web. 

 I should get back to my title…. Why do I love MiG?

Although I’ve only met him once… the time I shared with him was enough to confirm all that I thought him to be.  He is truly the most genuine and kind man I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.  And guess what?  He treats everyone with the same utmost respect not just fans… everyone.  Through the internet and friends of his, I have come to know a little of the real man.  And he has never disappointed me.  He is active in charity.  He believes in dreams.  He loves his wife.  He is full of passion for music, for love, for hope and life.  I think, if I someone asked me what it was about MiG that makes him so special, and I could only have one sentence – it would be this:  MiG is full of joy.  JOY.  I can’t think of many people, stars or not, that are full of joy.  It is something we need and something we lack.  He is not happy all of the time, to be certain.  However, he possesses the type of joy that I strive for:  The joy of life, love, people etc… in the midst of sadness, conflict or turmoil.  He is someone I can fully admire in this day and age.  THAT to me is saying something HUGE.

 And, what about his musical ability? He’s on fire baby.  He can bring you to your knees with a love song, rock your socks off, get down with some soul/funk and transform any song I’ve heard him sing into magic.  He’s an AMAZING pianist as well.  I love to see him rock out on the ivories – there’s nothing like it.  Although his debut CD is going to be a “concept album” showcasing a certain style of music, this is just the TIP of the iceberg. MiG’s got a long list of talents and surprises coming in his career.  You will never be bored that is for certain. 

An example of surprises:  MiG covers the Pearl Jam song “Jeremy” on his upcoming CD.  As much as I love him I was truly worried about this cover.  I wondered how in the world he could pull it off.  Not only did he “pull it off” it’s one of the BEST songs on the CD.  There are also three amazing originals on the CD. 

MiG’s cd won’t change the world.  But his spirit, soul and passion COULD if it catches on… it penetrates much further than the boundaries of that little silver disc… and into your heart.  I hope you’ll give him a chance… I know I’m glad I did.
