I want to start off by saying I am neither a Democrat or Republican, but a non-affiliated Independent who is sick of seeing the American people being screwed by a corrupt political system and politicians being bought and paid for by the special interest.
This country has been trying to get healthcare reform since 1915.
Each attempt at reform - most notably during the Truman, Johnson and most recently Clinton administration has been met by a well organized anti-reform movement spearheaded by the Republicans and the healthcare special interest. They have been using the same basic tactics: fear, misinformation and their favorite tactic - divide and conquer to prevent healthcare reform from passing. They have succeeded in convincing the American people to vote against their own best interest each and every time.
They have also succeded in pitting the two sides against each other, turning a non political issue into the hottest political football in decades. Not since the Civil rights movement of the 1960's had there been a more heated debate on a topic - which some feel is a basic human right and others feel it's the government steering us towards socialism. The insurance industry sees it as a way to legally fleece the public.
While I feel everyone has the right to their opinion - this is too important of a subject to let partisanship get in the way. This should not have been made into a political issue, it is a question of whether or not we will morally do the right thing: get fundemental coverage for ALL Americans at an affordable price, eliminate denial of coverage because of pre-exisiting conditions, and ban insurance companies from dropping people when they become sick.
Before we can change healthcare - we must change our perception of it. The one basic fact that no one can deny is that the sole purpose of health insurance is to pay claims to doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other providers - nothing more, nothing less. It is the human tendency towards greed that drives the need to profit off someone else's misfortune, which I feel is wrong.
Contact your Representative and Senators and tell them to stand up to the special interest and pass real reform including a strong public option.

Republicans told their base to stop all health care but they have a plan
They want to eliminate the cost of insurance for businesses
Democrats want to cover everyone.
Both are now dealing the dollars for care away.
Non negotiate on drugs, non reimporting of Canada drugs.
No public option, means no cost reduction from the insurance companies
Where are the readers.
You do kinda look like a dog.
Who are they? They are the government, composed of the same people you are trusting to pass a bill that is not reform at all, but putting the authority in the very hands you admit have been doing nothing but looking out for their own interests for decades. Of course, ifyou are of the mindset to think the Democrats are all for the common people and the Republicans are all for the rich, let's just stop right here because I have no patience for that kind of silliness.
You also have been brainwashed to think, like so many others, that health care reform equates only to health insurance reform, and that is only a fraction of the problem.
One going to be passed.
Do you want negotiated drug prices and or the right to re-import cheaper drugs from Canada
The Republican plans are specifically to eliminate the cost of insurance for business, their tax credit will not cover the cost of insurance.
Republican Medicare fix is to use the trigger.
Stop all payouts as soon as the funding is spent each year,
so if you are on Medicare, expect to be covered only for the first months of the year.
Why not write them, it is easy.
Your Senators http://www.senate.gov
Your Congressman http://www.house.gov
Just telling them "No health care plan"
Cuts you out of the discussion, jump in!
How do you know that I haven't already voiced my opinions to my Congress people and Senators? The questions that you've just posed make me see you as a person that assumes an awful lot to take any opinions of yours as credible.
I don't even look at this so called health care reform as being such because it is a huge problem, and we solve huge problems in steps, each carefully examinied before adding other steps that can be counterproductive to the total solution.
When I look at this issue, it's the same way I looked at the hope and change promises of the campaign. People who voted for the President were looking for hope and any change from what they had, never minding what those changes might be. Anything was better than what they had. The same people are looking at this reform bill in that same way, and I just can't relate to that kind of mindset to even begin to argue with you or anyone who thinks that way.
I haven't bought into anyone's bullshit from either side. The special interest are the ones convincing these under informed people - especially the ones who participated in the 60,00 moron march - to go against their own best interest
If you like things the way they are - fine
but ask someone who has no insurance, been denied healthcare or dropped due to "pre-existing conditions" ( being a diabetic, I know first hand) about changing the system, they will respond HELL YEAH
Just to clue you in: The special interest are pitting the Democrats and Republicans against each other and have been for nearly 100 years
If people are too blind or stupid to see the special interest are trying to kill reform AGAIN, all I can say is pull your head out of your ass and either support the vote for change or get the hell out of the way and let those who need health care get it!
If you understood my comments, you would also understand that you're not cluing me in on anything, but I was trying to clue you in on the fact that they've allowed special interests to control them and dictate policy, and for you to think they are doing anything different with these so called reform proposals, you're the one with his head stuck up where the sun doesn't shine, but you seem to like it there, and that's your own business. Going to be getting those flu shots along with your rabies this year, Mad Dog? You've got a lot of people here who will pat you on the head, so you don't need me to do it, and I've already got a dog. Take care.
mmmeeeeooooowwwee
and you must have mistaken me with someone who gave a shit what you think - your opinions mean nothing to me
I don't recall even asking you - sorry to break it to you - the world don't revolve around you and your ignorant two bit cheap shots - I have more important things to do than listening to idiots like you.
