Past Inaugurations

While exploring YouTube this morning, I came across this video - U.S. Presidential Inauguration History Vignettes.

Some facts from the clip: George W. Bush placed his hand on the same Bible as George Washington.

George Washington added the words, "So help me God" to the oath, and it's been said by every president ever since except one - Teddy Roosevelt.

Here's another interesting video. It's called, "39 words that make a President". It's the oath of the Office of President of the United States - by every President since FDR.

I noticed a Gather post the other day asking what business we had having our Presidents say, "So help me God" in the oathof office. Obviously, George Washington thought it was appropriate, since he's the one who added the words himself. And every President since, except for Teddy Roosevelt, has said those words.

Hmmmmm, makes one wonder what will be this time around. I'll have to check with you on that Marilyn, as I have no intentions of watching it. The ONLY one I watched was Ron Reagan. That's because I was with a group of American Legionaires waiting for him to become president and our hostages being held in Iran released at the same time.

I have no intention of watching anything related to Obama's inaugurations activities. I do find it fascinating that Bush used the same bible as George Washington did though.
