Tentative Deal Reached On Bailout!

Be nice if they prosecuted the CEO's and made them pay back and 'extra' benefits they received.

I'm still waiting to hear the terms of the tentative agreement. No telling what the final version looks like since this has been a moving target all along.

There has to be over sight. Where is that money going? It better not be going to feather someone else's nest, or to give someone else a golden parachute!

I just hope that the economy gets back on track.

I sense a worse mess than we already have. We'll see.

I would like to see the CEO's prosecuted, and, I think it's about time we had term limits in Congress. Our politicians are ALL so corrupt, and they do not have our,(the peoples), best interests in mind.

I heard the Democrats added money for union. I hope not,I hope they prosecute some of these CEOs, but since most of them contribute big time to the politicians, I doubt it. I don't think this is about regulations, it is strictly about greed and politics.

Seems Bush has to pad the pockets of his wealthy friends one more time before he leaves office - it our expense, of course. Unless the CEOs have to pay for their carelessness, this problem will continue at our expense as the rich get richer and the middle class slowly gets lost. The outcome is the society with the very rich and the very poor - exactly where we are headed at this rate.

Then WAKE UP!

Flood the Offices of those Traitors and Crooks. Call Bush! Call them all. If we do NOTHING, we have NOTHING to say.

Don't they all just look giddy with excitement! Wouldn't you be, too, if you'd just gotten away with a $700 billion robbery?

A running theme in so many of the posts on this site is "hope": Let's "hope" for a change... Let's "hope" that we can get somebody elected who'll take the reins and start steering us in the right direction... Let's "hope" they're thinking about us...

Here's a "hope" for you: Let's "HOPE" this is the last great crime the government commits against its citizenry, because it certainly ranks right up there among the biggest in history...

I wouldn't exactly hold your breath hopin', though, because we've gotta remember just a few little facts, here. This $700 billion "bailout" was invented by the Bush administration-the most brazen criminals in the history of government. It has been pushed through the "negotiating" process in one week (!) by the Democratic leadership. While the two possibilities we have for our next president sat by and said mostly nothing. And we, the people of this country, will end up paying for it.

Democrat vs. Republican is just good drama designed to distract you from the fact that it's really Them vs. Us.

The effect of the bailout...no matter what the specifics or details of the bailout plan, will be inflation. This is not an "if", it is a certainty. The injection of three quarters of a trillion dollars, that doesn't really exist, into the American economy will further erode the value of the dollar. Everything we use will cost more. Your boss won't be able to give you a raise to match inflation because he is trying to cover his increased overhead. He does this by charging more for the product or service your company provides and so does every other company. So in addition to the price increase do to the weakened value of the dollar..there will be price increases due to the increased cost of business overhead and this becomes a circular activity of raising prices to offset costs. If this can not be controlled...the result be be a runaway inflation like we experienced in the early 70's. (The way to control inflation is to raise interest rates...which chokes economic expansion)

A weaken dollar has a particularly damaging effect of the cost of oil...which is priced in U.S. dollars. A weaker dollar means that the same oil costs more dollars...even in all other market conditions and supply and demand remain the same. If fact..supply can increase and still result in higher oil prices.

Money will be in tighter supply...meaning higher interest rates..which makes the cost of business expansion more... further fueling inflation.

This bailout is an act of desperation..not a carefully and well planned and economic policy.
The feds "bailed out" Washington Mutual by not bailing them out. The federal regulators sold WaMu to J P Morgan Chase at a bargain prices and then told WaMu that they no longer exist. The officers at WaMu were not willing to sell at fire-sale prices in order to protect themselves. The FDIC said that if a sale could be made...they, should take it but they, WaMu, were waiting for your money and mine...they were waiting for a tax money bailout. In other words...because of the forced sale of WaMu...the stockholders of WaMu took the hit rather than the American tax payers.

The bailout Congress has passed is a panacea...a bottle of snake oil. The bailout is indicative of the narrow focus and short term thought process of our Congress. It's time to vote out all the incumbents...clean house....start over and support the efforts of third party candidates. More of the same is more of the same...Republican or Democrat.

Here is another idea... If instead of funneling $700 billion into this sinkhole (I'm not sure if we will see any of it come back into our pockets), the Fed chooses to pay each and every taxpayer $5,000 ($700B divided by 150M taxpayers) or $10,000 per household, we will see the kind of boom and economic prosperity never seen before in this century.

It's time to PUT UP or SHUT UP, folks!

Stop the bitchin' and get involved, write letters, dont believe their crap even if is from 'your side', we need to put them all on notice, NOW.

They are all thieves and they will take, take, take, take...........as long as we let them, wake up my fellow lazy, complacent, big screen watching, SUV driving, hand-out receiving American slobs. We are getting screwed if we allow them to pass this as is!

We get the government we deserve and we give them Carte Blanche. The administration is only a figure head...the real thieves are the life long members of our Congress and Senate.

I hope the tenative deal is to let the loan sharks bite the bullet and handle their own problem without government stepping in to save their crooked behinds.
