While watching Good Morning America I saw Matt Lauer (sp?) interview John McCain.
If you look at McCains website and listen to his words and view his Senate voting record it just doesnt add up.
McCain claims to be a Maverick yet votes along party lines and with Bush 91% of the time. So who is he reforming?
John McCain claims to want to fight Big Business yet didnt sign legislation that would require CEO's of companies that file bankruptsy to be included in that action. What this means is that a company, lets use AIG as an example, is in debt. The CEO gets a $110 million dollar bonus in addition to his regular $20 million dollar a year paycheck but that gross expendenture isnt included in the bankruptsy. So people lose jobs and they may not get their paychecks but the head honcho who is responsible for overseeing the business gets a bonus for bad performance and doesnt have to answer to anyone why his the business he ran is in the toilet but yet wants the taxpayers to bail his company out.
McCain wants to deregulate business. But claims that the people are the one's he is fighting for. He favors instead the government watchdog organizations. And we know how effective that has been in the past. But on the plus side that should create more openings for special interest lobbyist.

McCain scares me, no his supporters scare me, McCain blatantly flip flops and has a double-think mentality, and people still want to vote for him, what the heck?
Yep he flip flops more than any other candidate I have seen but what really kills me is when someone says I am a lifelong Repub I voted for Bush and Reagan...well if loved Bush they wouldnt be voting for McCain the reformer.
I really felt Joe pwnd the repubs.
People keep fighting about who is better, when in fact neither one is much better, and both are jokes that will do more damage than good.
The only one that has any executive experience is Palin, and she is being so slaundered by the left, that she looks like some sort of monster, but the fact is she is the only good politician that is running from either the Democrats of the Republicans, and will not have any real power.
So I'll still stay with Barr, who is the only one that has any real idea what the hell needs done.
Nick I am still not sure what to think of Palin. I think she just likes power.
Palin is just a power hungry biatch that would sell her own children for a vote. OK so I guess that she is a good politician.
Lori F., Sep 16, 2008, 10:09am EDT
She is a tremendous politician but that's like saying the Great White is a termendous man-eating fish. I can't stand her and I think that McCain and the GOP are using her as nothing more than a stripper. They have her dancing her in front of the press and the numbed-up public and no-one gives a squat what she actually says. The more I learn about her, the more I dislike her. I used to respect John McCain (still didn't want him to be President but still) but not anymore. His handlers have clearly led him down the low road and I believe (in spite of what the polls are saying and what the right-wing field marshalls here on Gather are saying) that it is going to prove costly in November.
"You say you want a revolution"? Well, it looks like we got one.
The neocons are hoping to get McCain elected because they know what poor health he is in and it will be easy to make a stepford president out of Palin.
Paul R., Sep 16, 2008, 10:19am EDT
No you don't. You are just willing to say or do anything to get Obama elected. Even if it means smashing someone else.
Palin's spokeswoman, Sharon Leighow, said the expenses are not unusual, noting that each of Palin's five children could have claimed a per diem expense and that Palin often did not seek out reimbursement for meals.
Palin has spent far less on travel than her predecessor, former Gov. Frank Murkowski, who spent $463,000 on travel in 2006. Palin spent $93,000 last year, records show.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/washingtonpostinvestigations/2008/09/palin_per_diem_travel_expenses.html
First you people are griping because she has five kids and isn't home with them and then when she takes them with her you're griping about that, too!
Thank the idiot in there now folks. And if you believe that McCain is going to fix this mess with more of the same bull-crap stuff, well, God help us all.
so,no, I really do feel sorry for the Alaskan Tax Paying Citizens.
Perhaps she should have kept the Jet and the Private Chef from the Last Governors Administration, maybe it would have saved the people more money.
He added: "The McCain-Palin administration will replace the outdated and ineffective patchwork quilt of regulatory oversight in Washington and bring transparency and accountability to Wall Street. We will rebuild confidence in our markets and restore our leadership in the financial world."

Read, Paul. I even put it in bold for you. Do you know how big Alaska is?
Nick *., Sep 16, 2008, 10:37am EDT
McCain broke it?
or is she going to bill all of us for the commute between Washington D.C. and Alaska?
I think it's sad that the repubs say Obama wants to raise Taxes, he doesn't. he wants to end the Bush Tax cuts for the Wealthy. That is NOT raising anything, merely evening the playing field and returning it to where it should be.
Nick *., Sep 16, 2008, 10:37am EDT
McCain broke it?
Lera M., Sep 16, 2008, 10:41am EDT
Nope. But the GOP did. And I am not quite sure I can buy into the Maverick thing. I think he was a maverick at one time. But not now. He's falling in line with the same party nonsense that has been running the show for a long, long time.
Lori F., Sep 16, 2008, 10:36am EDT
First of all, I don't think I have bashed Obama bearly as much as the libs on here have bashed Gov. Palin.
I admire both McCain and Palin very much. Not to say that much about Obama isn't admirable. I like McCain because he is a Republican and I feel that Republicans are closer to my beliefs than Democrats. I don't like liberals. Obama is the most liberal senator in the senate.
I feel that McCain's time as a POW has shown that he is a man of principal, as much as one can be and still be a politician. lol I think he loves America and will do what's best for the country. I think that he is more bipartisan than Obama and will work with both sides to accomplish things. I believe that he will more likely work for change than Obama will.
He also admits that he one of his weakness is dealing with the economy so he picks Palin who has a bad records....she left the Wasilla $20 million dollars in debt.
How can you justify that?
And enough with the Palin attacking nonsense. I have heard Obama is a Muslim..Obama is the antichrist Obama has a funny name....the so called attacking of Palin on ISSUES isnt anything compared to what Obama has endured.
There's one thing we agree about!
Can you be that stupid?
I am still waiting for the trickle down from the Reagan administration...hope it gets here soon.
Lori F., Sep 16, 2008, 10:54am EDT
I have to strongly disagree with you on this. The venom against Palin is much worse than anything Obama has had to deal with. Not just on Gather but in the news media. This is my opinion and I think I'm right. The media has ascended on the tiny town of Wasilla to go through every single detail of the Palin's lives. I have no doubt that they have probably gone through their trash.
Yet, Medical Orginazations should have best policies, Procedures and Health managment plans enacted. for Health, Safety, and Sanitary Reasons etc.
and it should be based on indivudual taste.
between the Medical Practice, the Doctor and the Mother.
to determine if they would offer abortion procedures/ wish to get one or not
and that big government should keep it's nose out of it, stick with criminal and procedural legislation and stop trying to legislate morality.
Joseph H., Sep 16, 2008, 10:56am EDT
Because Obama called him out on a "fundamentally strong economy." When he heard Obama's response, he changed his tune.
Are you willing to trust your economic future to a Bush clone for 4 more years? Actually he is worse than Bush....he loves war Bush just hated Saddam.
Can you be that stupid?"
I wouldn't say stupid, necessarily. Aware is the word I'd use. Bush gave tax cuts to the rich at the beginning of his presidency. Have you seen the deficit lately? Who is going to pay for that?
Can you be that stupid?
C A., Sep 16, 2008, 11:00am EDT
What's biting me and the rest of the country in the ass right now?
Return to school on what? Your good looks...bush cut funding and you cant get a student loan to save your life.
Now about all the "attacks" on Palin...answer please.
And while I am at it....can someone explain to me how McCain is such a Maverick?
Lera M., Sep 16, 2008, 11:09am EDT
Where is that Lera? I'll gladly consider moving. Oh wait, I can't sell my house because of the market. I can't move too far because I can't afford the gas to get there. Oh wait, look here's an email from my company. "You're doing a great job and we would love to give you a raise but all increases are hereby stopped during this current economic condition. We will re-visit this issue in six months". Whew. Fortunately prices will stay put on things like energy, housing, food, insurance... if they continued to rise, I'd be screwed.
I'm pleased for your good fortune Lera but your expierence is not shared among the general populace.
The only thing I see McCain being against is the truth.
and the GOP is typically anti-Union (as far as I know) so yeah If not for UFCW I:d probably be worse off.
I got money last year to go to school.
Lori F., Sep 16, 2008, 11:14am EDT
Good point.
That her baby isn't really her baby. The news media wanted DNA testing.
That her children were names after witches.
That she banned books and even had a list of books to be banned.
That it was her fault that her son has Down Syndrome because she didn't take care of herself while being pregnant.
Nick *., Sep 16, 2008, 11:09am EDT
Nick, it will get worse...much worse, under the Obamanation's Obamanomics. Are you old enough to remember the Carter administration? Even worse than that.
And Obama voted with his party 98% of the time. Where is the change and hope we can believe in? He didn't a darn thing while he was in Chicago and he won't change a thing as president.
If not for the Union, Paul, there wouldn't be a mass stampede of American jobs heading out of the country.
Oh, wait if we can't agree on politics then we are certainly not going to agree on religion...I'll tell ya what though Samhain (or as you may know it as Halloween) is coming up and you can come to my get together!
By her own admission she didnt take the proper precautions during pregnancy...she flew on an airplane while in early labor....great family values there.
The baby isnt really hers...well how many articles on Edwards affair and Clintons blowjob have you seen.
If she is covering up it is lying...same principle as affairs and cigars up vaginas.
Didnt the news media want DNA from a certain black dress?
Now what is McCain reforming? Who is he reforming?
This was her fifth child. I think she knows what she's doing. She wanted her son to born in Alaska. She loves her state and she loves this country.
Wah! we don't want the unions to be around to make sure we pay our employees fair and competitive wages!
Wah! we'd rather be screwge McDuck style and pay them 3 pennies and hour!
Wah! Our CEO's Can't buy that expensive sports car, Mansion, Private Jet, and Private Island that they wanted!
Lera M., Sep 16, 2008, 11:21am EDT
So if you got laid off then you would be fine? No financial worries?
I think most people do live within their means but when your means change can you also change your bills to reflect your new means?
Why? Because the economic policies of my right-to-work state, Texas, have afforded businesses with opportunities to grow and thrive.
So, while many other states (Michigan comes to mind) struggle with failed liberal economic policies, and Union strangleholds, many Texans enjoy a sort of insulation from those particular woes.
We have been hit hard by the mortgage crisis - but, really whose fault is that? Shady lending practices, and rules that were bent if not outright broken, seem to have been the cause.
All that aside, I am not personally better off because of these things. I am better off because I educated myself, and when the right opportunity came along I was able to convince my employer of my abilities.
Stop looking to the government to solve your problems, and take some ownership yourselves.
Lera M., Sep 16, 2008, 11:27am EDT
Obviously she didnt. My uncle died when I was 6 months pregnant with my last child and since I was 40 he forbid me to even ride in a car from FL to MI let alone ride in a plane. Having 5 kids doesnt make you a good parent it just means your fertile.
Blue dress, Lori. Blue dress. I'd rather see them get DNA from a blue dress to prove what a cheating, lying under oath, pig Bill Clinton is than get it from a four month old baby because of a ridiculous story.
Lera M., Sep 16, 2008, 11:21am EDT
I don't care for this response. What are you implying? Are you suggesting that I am out spending money like a drunken sailor? No. Not even close. I work two jobs. I try to help out my parents when I can. I don't eat out or even go to bars. I haven't been to a movie in over a year. I work Lera. And I live well within my means. I also sit and watch my 401K dissolve before my eyes and taking away any thought I had of EVER retiring right along with it. I will work until I drop dead which apparently is the Republican way unless you're one of those at the top.
I'm pleased that you have discovered the secret of making wealth in a shit economy. That's great. But please don't think, even for a minute, that the rest of us 'complainers' are out here blowing money left and right on hookers, booze, expensive cars and imported cheese (I had to put cheese in there - it was getting too serious).
C A., Sep 16, 2008, 11:29am EDT
chandra I agree with you on that but on the other hand with the government giving tax breaks to big corporations that take their companies out of this country and then allowing the unfair balance of trade etc...it is hard to take all the responsibility on.
Sure we would all get a MBA but then who would we work for that hasnt moved their businesses to China or India?
and you are an at-will employee with no protection and could get fired for farting crosswind!
where as, here in my "Liberal Union Stronghold" state, I have at least some Job protection and guaranteed raises and the like. because of my Union.
So you're saying she's a bad parent. What does that even have to do with being VP? What does that have to do with issues and policies?
Nick *., Sep 16, 2008, 11:09am EDT
Nick, it will get worse...much worse, under the Obamanation's Obamanomics. Are you old enough to remember the Carter administration? Even worse than that.
C A., Sep 16, 2008, 11:23am EDT
Yeah, I am old enough to remember Carter and the lousy job his administration did. Thank God he's not running again. (and please don't fall into the pit of saying that Obama is another Carter. Not even close)
Come on youre smarter than that.
They are both horrible.
But if Palin wouldnt have done damage control by throwing her daughter to the wolves.....she cant be the Mom cause she is pregnant now.
Why did she do that?
Why not offer doctors reports? A crib card? Anything but that. Palin has brought alot of this on herself.
OK, how about if we calm ourselves down a bit? I don't even know you. I am just saying that I live within my means. I said nothing about you.
But I do know some people who live way above their means. Who try to keep up with the Jones'. Who buy only name brand clothing for their children.
So you're saying she's a bad parent. What does that even have to do with being VP? What does that have to do with issues and policies?
Lera M., Sep 16, 2008, 11:33am EDT
About the same thing as sticking cigars up a girls vagina has to do with being a bad president. Or used for grounds to impeach.
We all know people who live above their means. LOT's of people who live above their means. Somehow, I don't think these are the people who are supporting Obama. I could be wrong but I don't think so.
You never saw that kind of crap out of my mouth. I defended Obama in some of those attacks. I even had my comments deleted in a few of those and the person removed me as a connection because I didn't go along with the program. I am still telling people that he isn't a Muslim. The guy who changed my oil the other day thinks he is a Muslim and I told him it wasn't true.
That whole episode was embarrassing as hell. But what Clinton got in trouble for was looking into the camera, pointing his finger at us and lying under oath. Not the blow job while in the oval office but lying under oath!
Lera M., Sep 16, 2008, 11:42am EDT
So do we get to impeach Bush for Iraq?
