The Bush administration fired U.S. Attorneys who would not carry out their personal crusades. In turns out McCain's VP pick has fired Alaska state employees for not doing hers.
Now that she is under investigation by the Alaska State Senate, Palin's not just lawyered up, but already refining her Bush-Cheney stonewalling chops:
The state has hired a private lawyer to represent Gov. Sarah Palin's office in the Legislature's investigation into the firing of former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The lawyer already has challenged whether lawmakers even have authority to oversee the inquiry.
Shouldn't she pay for this? Why should the state lawyer her up? This is the reformer who did not want a cook paid for the state. Lawyer paid by the state? That will be just fine.
Palin has so far ducked interview requests from the investigators, and Alaska state legislators are already talking subpoenas.
Yeah, subpoenas. Sound familiar?
E-mails from the Palin administration are being withheld from the public and the governor is citing executive privilege.
OoOoOoOohh! What a "reformer!" What a "maverick!"
Executive privilege. Anyone who has followed Karl Rove stories the last 12 months knows what executive privilege is all about. Hariet Myers? Yep, same privilege.
Folks, this is not change. This is not mavericky. This is the same old Rovian Cheneyesque tactics. Now the package looks different. A younger female with good looks. Same sense of entitlement, same abuse of authority, same tactics to use the law to hide behind. The McCain camp is stone walling the investigation. This is Scooter Libby, Karl Rove, Hariett Myers, all put together Part II.
And just what kind of "executive privilege" are we talking about? Apparently these super-privileged e-mails are all cc-ed to... Palin's husband.
Where is the executive privilege when the husband, who is not elected, had access to the info?
At least if they turn out to be Bush Third Term don't say "We Could Not See this Coming."
The signs are all over the place.

Maybe this was a good choice. She is the exact same kind of reformer and maverick as John McCain.
(mind you, I am asking about her sister's ex-husband who is a police officer).

Palin should have learned a valuable lesson from John Edwards, and just paid the guy off.
You are crying about what IS Alaskan Law.
Dial back 2000 and this would have not happened. The MSM is powerless. Dailykos, Andy Sullivan and co write it up. We pick it up and it's news. CNN, MSNBC, NYT are then forced to send reporters to cover it up. These guys are slow.
LONG LIVE THE BLOGOSPHERE!
She ain't no maverick! She is a sidekick!
So?
Even so, he did not say Dailykos. Many blogs picked up that story. The kos did not start it. That was a different topic. Nobody is talking about that over here.
Kay, we already did that. Now, we're having fun with the circus that replaced the bigger circus that would have been a losing convention. Keep up.
Careful now...don't be askeering him away with those nasty harsh facts and reality thingys!
Mavericky, indeed! And, as Sandy said, certainly every bit as Mavericky as John McMaverickbooshie.
"Interesting that Palin witnessed the threat but did not call the police."
Wouldn't that be like conspiracy to knowingly cover up a crime?
"You guys will have to decide this election on the issues whether you like it or not. "
That's certainly not going to be happy news for the rabid wingnuts, is it now? Ouch. The LAST thing that they wanted.
The only thing funnier than watching the extreme rightwingers twist and spin in their desperate attempts to validate an entirely unqualified VP selection will be watching them eventually toss her under the bus when she finally has to step down as a result of reality crashing in around her!
It was at $18 bucks a share. Run buy some regardless of how you are betting. It will be $30 by tomorrow for sure.
1. She was a member of separatist group
2. She is no maverick. She was for the 'bridge to nowhere' before she became against it.
3. She is pro life, pro gun, and against abstinence education (ahem, ahem!)
4. She has secured an average of 1.2 million dollars earmarks (pork) for each resident during her mayoral tenure.
5. She was almost recalled as a mayor
6. She is currently under investigation
7. She directed fundraising for indicted senator Ted Stevens 527 group
8. Hired Abramoff lobbyst
9. There is a video where she laughs as opponent is called "Bitch", "Cancer", and mocked for her weight.
10. Her church pastor is rather controversial. "People voting for Kerry will go to hell"
Keep it coming!!!

I like this photo as well...who knew that part of Palin's "vast experience" was as clerk at a convenience store? LOL!!!

Oh, and let's all be sure and familiarize ourselves with the "overwhelming" mayoral duties list as well!
2.16.020 Power and duties of mayor.
A. The mayor is the chief administrator of the city, has the same powers and duties as those of a manager under AS 29.20.005, and shall:
1. Preside at council meetings. The mayor may take part in the discussion of matters before the council, but may not vote, except that the mayor may vote in the case of a tie;
2. Act as ceremonial head of the city;
3. Sign documents on behalf of the city;
4. Appoint, suspend or remove city employees and administrative officials, except as provided otherwise in AS Title 29 and the Wasilla Municipal Code;
5. Supervise the enforcement of city law and carry out the directives of the city council;
6. Prepare and submit an annual budget and capital improvement program for consideration by the council, and execute the budget and capital program as adopted;
7. Make monthly financial reports and other reports on city finances and operations as required by the council;
8. Exercise legal custody over all real and personal property of the city;
9. Perform other duties required by law or by the council; and
10. Serve as personnel officer, unless the council authorizes the mayor to appoint a personnel officer.
B. The mayor may appoint a person to the position of administrative assistant and deputy administrator. If appointed, the positions may not be eliminated during the mayor"s term of office without prior consent of the mayor.
Also take note that this mayoral position, which the wacky wingnuts have crowed about being all she needs for qualification to lead the free world, was a part time position, and she "led" 3-4 people. Impressive.
The thought that this two can get elected is frightening.
Who did Bush murder? And are you on meds?
Anyways.... this is not going your way by any stretch. Obama has pretty much been silenced since the end of the DNC.
She was also Governor of a State and is now a VP candidate. You make no sense when you only show part of the picture. She also has REAL LIFE experience that will make her relate well to most Americans. I thiink the coupling of McCain's formidable experience and Palin's numerous attributes are going to win in November.
Dems debate the issuess?? Like the Communist fist bump?? Like Michelle's "proud of America" comment?? Like a legitimate land deal?? Like Obama is a Muslim??
I truly admire the humanity of Obama and his drive to avoid placing families in the political limelight even when exploiting them could potentially score political points. It a just and "Christian" decision. All of you on the RW, all you good church goers, take note that instead of paying lip service to a God you don't give a damn about here is a man that puts personal ambition in the back seat for basic decency. That's called Christian values. Study it as it seems most of you don't have a clue what Christian values are.
Personally I believe we are in a war. A war more deadly and important, more relevent to America's future, identity and security than any fought with guns and blood. Our enemies are the ignorant, greedy Republican slimebags who consider the Constituion not much better than toilet paper, the same bastards whose spiritual fathers got the shit kicked out of them at Gettysburg and laid down their arms at Appomattox. If I were Obama I would castrate the Repub attack dogs via the tonsils by any means at hand. They have proven NO moral limitations to do the same.
on iniatives for new energy sources....have you?
And when you check on that you can also check Obama's vote on the environment and military.
Stop believing the GOP is what it pretends it to be and realize that is never once balanced a budget in the lat 30 years in power.
But it did increase the size of government with political appointee who did not know how to do their jobs , but had connections.
This from the mouth of someone who worked for the government for 30 years in Washington and has seen the changes, the corruption and nepotism.
1.2 million innocent Iraqis. Not that brown people matter to wingnut flying monkeys, mind you.
"Let me know when you moonbats can step out of extremely slanted blogs and get some real media with all of your B.S. Palin stories"
This is when you know that you've REALLY gotten to little delusional donny here. He can't refute the documented facts, so he attempts to murder the messenger. Nice try, spinny. Ain't working, though. Sorry! LOL!
Face it, your pathetic candidate has managed to find the sole republiCON, besides you and your diseased butt pal Lexie, who is even more pathetic than himself. Have fun being one of the last remaining delusional fools clinging onto this loose turd. Can't wait to see how you spin yourself into knots when she's finally forced to step down, as the scandals come crashing down around her! LOL!!!
Let's see. The National Enquirer is on some juicy Sarah Palin stories. Should CNN, MSNBC, CBS, New York Times, ... pick those stories up and run with it?
But alas there is an online trading company already taking bets. Opened at 3% shot up to 18% and closed at 12%. And that's just the first day of trading.

Accepting, for the moment, your premise, Julie, I would have to say that Rove/Cheney/Bush have beaten the best the Democrats have sent up in two Presidential elections. Sounds like they've learned plenty.
PLEASE EVACUATE CAMPAIGN IMMEDIATELY.
WALK DON’T RUN TO THE NEAREST EXIT.

The situation was investigated. Some of the accusations were thrown out as unsubstantiated. A couple were seem as valid.
1. Tasering stepson. Did happen, however it was not a "live" taser, but a training taser, used in training of officers so they understand what the weapon does. Stepson asked to try it. He said OK. I sign of machismo stupidity, yes. But in a state where they teach their kids to hunt moose, not all that odd.
2. Speaking of moose...shot a moose without a license. However, his wife had the license, and she got scared and couldn't pull the trigger, so she asked him to do it. A technical violation, but not a violent crime by any means.
He was suspended for five days, and given an official reprimand. By the law, that is the end of it. This all transpired before Palin became governor.
AFTER she became governor, she began to put pressure on to get him fired. At that point, she overstepped her bounds. The officer had already been through an official investigation, and already reprimanded. Attempting to get him fired after the fact just because she was in a position of power is a clear violation of the officer's rights.
