Iran said on Wednesday it had test-fired a long-range missile capable of reaching Israel and U.S. troops in the region, a step promptly condemned by the Bush administration as heightening tensions over the country's suspected nuclear weapons program.
The roughly 1,200 mile range of Iran's Shahab-3 rocket has been known for several years, but the test firing -- and pointed statements from Tehran about the country's "capability in hitting its enemies" -- added to a tense climate. SOURCE
By word or deed, nearly everything Iran does seemed designed to provoke an incident with the USA. It is as if they are begging to be attacked, and assume martyr status.
I say give the Jews the green light and bombs away.

Iran isn't a bully, they are a bully wanna be. They have no power to flex, yet-- which is precisely why the Jews will not let them acquire the technology they seek.
There is a reason Iran is doing everything in it's power to ensure someone attacks them. They need the excuse to start attacking others.
Sorry Mike, I don't read fiction.
Both West and East should come together and sort out issues that are scaring away each other in order to rein in such rogue nations like Iran (or North Korea and even few Islamic nations) so that their utterances are nipped in the bud before they can harm the innocents who want to live in peace. Iran has, of late, become a hot bed of hate campaign and the very Ahmedinejad whose only qualification is his accomplishment as a terrorist during the hostage era. With his rise came also some like-minded extremists who got an opportunity to imagine themselves as prophets of their Alla so that they can decide the fate of the world. Can the other countries unite by deciding on thrusting a deterrent of a decision on Iran? I personally feel there could be a break-out of war unlike what Ahmedinejad himself wants to convey. Understandably, even allowing the ten years of war Iran waged with Iraq, it has no that much of capability to defend itself against world powers. The few missiles could be depleted within a few months if only the other world powers decide to strike a deal.
Could gas reach $10 a gallon? That would be a nuclear attack on our economy.
lo... n this Iran has not attacked any country in last 200 years. While we wage war & attack a country at least once every 10 years.... we love to bomb place back to stone age.. "Shock & awe" sovereign nations but no one even has the right to defend themselves.. we have carrying out war games since the last 2-3 weeks in the region, did u expect Iran to sit back & watch? Wake up!
No, because they are savages--- what I did expect however, was for them to be smart enough to understand, we won't sit back and watch either.....
It was Iraq that invaded Iran not vice versa and Saddam Hussein had our blessings in the brutal war in which chemical weapons were used on Iranian civilians. I will give u benefit of doubt that u misread my sentence as I doubt u r ignorant abt history.
At this time, Pakistan is the only truly Muslim nation to possess nukes. Israel has plenty of them and will, I would suspect, not use them unless they are being attacked.
In a way, it is not that the nuclear countries do not intend to use them unless attacked, rather it is their fear of an outbreak of world war that may isolate them from the world (opinion I say) that they are timid to use such nuuuuus.
For the moment, we even cannot say which Muslim world (why take Muslim world?), which country has it or is near it. We can only fervently hope that good reason will prevail and such countries do not fall in to the hands of fanatics like Taliban, who would have (as they hanged Najibulla) pressed the button for their humor sake.
Well it is as easy as that for a nuclear war.
On the same pages of Gather.com, I had been exhorting people not to "write off Bush" merely because things went wrong here or there, for which one cannot blame the President who did his bit to save the US from the treacherous devils.
I must repeat, the enormous good done to wipe out the tentacles of Al Qaida, Taliban and Zarcawi and the like did more good to US and the world than the catastrophe that could have befallen the US and their allies had these been allowed to prowl around without being bridled.
Personally, I feel the contribution by President Bush has helped resurrect the sagging image of US universally than the sacrifices made by US and the allies by engaging the extremists without any respite. My driving point is, if we start brooding about what Iran is presently attempting to do, will not the same people throw aspersions on the in-coming President in case he was forced to engage the Iranians which could have even far reaching repercussions?
You are not differing with me as I stated virtually the same, that no nation with nuclear arms had ever been attacked. Nuclear has been a powerful deterrent to war among sane people. The United States is the only county to ever use nuclear and that use taught all people just how horrendous these weapons could be, if used.
Because of the devastation a nuclear war would bring, it could well end the human race. This makes any sane leader, regardless how much of a despot, reluctant to effectively commit suicide.
While the USSR was still intact, the balance of power between the USSR and the United States kept the world in a tense state of peace Such things as the Iraq war would not have occurred during that period of time. Now there is no balance of power as the US is the only "super power" at this time.
We do differ in our analysis of the Iraq situation by a mile. I opposed the invasion of Iraq before ot occurred. I supported Bush's entry into Afghanistan, however he chose to cut and run from there to invade a sovereign nation, thereby not finishing the job there.
Now the Taliban are effectively regaining power and will play a role in the Government and eventually may control the nation again. And Al Qaida may be moving out of Iraq but they are gathering in Pakistan and Afghanistan again.
We had legitimate reason for going into Afghanistan and the support of the world. Even Saddam publicly condemned the attack on the WTC! The Iraq war has caused permanent damage to the US in the world today and degraded our nation.
Ahmadinejad is a maniac, and nothing good can come of an aggressive Iran. At least nothing good for its people. Israel is no puppet of the USA, and will act decisively to protect itself.
The world is full of stupid people. Sigh.......
