Four Iowa Nursing Homes on the "Watch" List-Now Here's the Catch-If You Want To Know Which Ones Ask the Lobbiests

Seems that the government agency that oversees and checks out nursing homes for compliance with health and safety codes and to ensure continued Medicare and Medicaid funding has identified 4 nursing homes in the state of Iowa as one's to watch.

Do you want to know which ones?

Ask the lobbiests.  This information wasn't released to the public.  So if you are researching nursing homes this isn't information you will see.  Guess the patients and families aren't that important.

Things like this prove that the government as a whole is corrupt.

this is not surprising to me. so many are in desperate need of attention! thanks for the heads up..I'll check with my lobbiest.....

Sadie.....call the PC, or the Daily Iowan, they know EVERYTHING when it comes to info of this sort

Sadie thats just it. You dont know how to do that and neither does anyone else or maybe a few people do. You can contact Medicare but they wont tell you. You can contact Medicaid and they wont tell you. The nursing homes certainly arent going to tell you.

This should be PUBLIC information first and foremost.

It is a crying shame. I wish they really would take a long and hard look. Be a resident, be a nurse, be a nursing assistant....run their campaigns as understaffed on medicare reimbursements. THATI would like to see really.

Thanks and of course the nursing homes want to keep it secret. I wonder can the state be forced to release the information under the Freedom of Information Act. I honestly think it's going to be just a matter of time before this cat is out of the bag.

Brian I doubt they could be forced...and it was actually a government agency and not the nursing homes that released this info to the lobbiests.

There are hundreds if not thousands of nursing homes in Iowa and 4 are being watched. I have no idea what lobiests have to do with it. If the info is not available how do we know this?

Colonel considering there are only a little over 2 million people in the whole state of Iowa I would say that thousands of nursing homes arent needed. I saw the report there were more violators than just the 4 but most of them non lifethreatening. They released the report but not the names....only the lobbiests got that.


What does that mean to you or I.

If you are searching for a nursing home for a loved one I would think that is something you would want to know. The nursing home certainly isnt going to disclose it. And why the lobbiest? Well they better than you or I have a the ear of the lawmakers...suppose the reports just happen to disappear? How would you or anyone else know?

I didn't need this to prove that government is corrupt.

I just recently drove by a local nursing home that had a Realtor sign in front of it.
I had not idea it was closed down! (or why for that matter)
some of the things they have problems with are far from good care.They look for eight copy's filed in 10 different ways. I have seen these at work in Illinois volenteers tring to help while the staff are being briefed on new paperwork
