What's Happening TODAY on Gather! Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

TODAY is Thanksgiving here in the states and I would like to interrupt our regularly scheduled “TODAY” column to wish each and every one of you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday.

I, personally, have so much to be thankful for this year. An amazing family, friends that accept me despite my many shortcomings, and a job that I absolutely love!

TODAY, I’d like to thank you, the Gather community, for allowing me into your world, connecting with me, sharing with me, listening and venting with me and most all discussing with me ways you think Gather could and should be more vibrant, social, interesting and engaging.

That leads me to one of the most exciting and compelling projects Gather has unveiled since I joined the company nearly a year ago. It’s called “Create Debate” and it’s the opportunity for each of us to talk to, and really get to know, the people who want to be President. Fact is, most of us THINK we know plenty about the presidential candidates, but we know very little. We get snippets and sound-bites and quips and quotes. But where’s the substance? Who are they really and how are they going to make America safer, stronger, and smarter? “Create Debate” will allow us to get the answers we want… dear I say the answers we deserve?!

But, creating an ongoing, in-depth, online debate isn’t easy. The candidates won’t come here unless properly invited… again, and again, and again. That’s where you can help. This Thanksgiving, be thankful for your American heritage and freedom. Here in America we each have a voice and a vote and we’re encouraged to use both.

I am asking you to join me in asking the candidates to come to Gather for a first of it’s kind online debate. Together, here at Gather, we can do something amazing, something meaningful, something powerful.
