(some of you may have known part of this already, as the memo was leaked several days after the election, but I doubt it. Our Corporate media has done another great job of covering real news with fluff, once again.)
We have been played, over and over, like a fine Stradivarius, in the hands of a true master, and I'm still not sure who he is. Cheney, Rove, Bush, Some unseen guiding half Magician? I have no idea, but I know someone is, and I know he's good at it.
Some things just hit you like a ton of bricks, and the article I am introducing here has hit me that hard. The hated Rumsfeld turned Dove toward the end, and was pushed out, not for his incompetence, not to appease the public, but because he had decided it was time to draw down the Iraq war, when Bush had decided to surge ahead with it. Sounds a lot like Bizzaro world, doesn't it? Bush had sworn his unending support for old Don, but not when Don saw the light on Iraq. That made him persona non grata, and before the election, not after it, as we were told.
I know you are sitting there saying, the end must be near, the sky is falling, if Rumsfeld turned dove, but through the freedom of information act, we now have not only the released resignation notice, but, I dare say, a memo that will become a footnote in a chapter in this war's history, that very few know, but that will shock almost everyone. We have been played, but rarely like this. If the connection had been made that Bush's old chickenhawk friend Donald had become disenchanted with the war, would we have looked at Gates as a peace appointment meant to steady Bush? Would we have been as complacent about the Surge? I think not. If one of the main architects of this war's miraculous change of heart had become public, it would have had implications, both out here, in the public, and inside, in the halls of Congress where the surge was funded. It is no mistake this was withheld, and it is no wonder we are continually getting played when even something that should be public like a simple unclassified memo, and a resignation letter are state secrets. Thanks for the heads up Ron.
"note the involvement of both political parties in this." Actually, I think the only party involved in this was the White house party. The implications of the memo that was leaked were largely unknown, in or out of either party, near as I gather. The reason was to gain acceptance for surge, and his nominee to replace Don, and get back on the war track.
Rumsfeld was a passive straw man, who played at being a big CEO while in the Pentagon. The generals in the Pentagon quickly learned to ignore him, and he never fired any of the them or reorganized the bureaucracy (although he did PR that he was making a "new army" which the media reported as fact).
I just don't think the record supports that. Don Rumsfeld was not ever that passive of a player in these events.
Yes, but the world according to bush is bizzaro.
Because I do not trust any of the puppets (medias) we watch to tell the real truth, I will factor it all together and just use my own INtuition ... which tells me we are still being 'played' and probably always will be in the foreseeable future.
