In another government effort to track and consolidate everyone's personal data, there is a plan to use our driver's license as a debit card for gas. Of course we know that from there, it would probably evolve into being mandatory, as the only option available for the purchase of gas. That way they could track our gas usage. A fee could be imposed at certain increments of consumption, all with the idea of "saving the planet." They wouldn't have to worry about getting their money from us, either. All they would have to do is suck it out of the debit card. No muss, no fuss.
The reason I am looking ahead like this, is because I just read about a measure in England that has added tracking chips to all of the latest recycle bins. That way, they can record who is filling them all the way up, and who is not. Residents of the ones which come up short would be fined for failing to cooperate with recycling expectations.
You can see where all this is going. One World Governement, global control, complete tracking of every individual, the Elite and the "masses." The "serfs" with no middle class dignity in between. Just remember, those thieves who run the world governement (posing as statespeople and exploiting that position of power,) will stop at nothing to get what they want, (even staged terrorism) but they CANNOT GET WHAT THEY ARE AFTER WITHOUT OUR COOPERATION.
I expect to get some sneers on this piece but I can't take responsibility for people who don't care to be aware. I'll do my part to help and from there everyone is basically on their own. There is still time, though.

Wheely Bins

I do favor charging more for filling up a gas-guzzler. But giving up one's privacy or freedom is unnecessary and completely over the top, I agree.
When unleaded gas was first introduced, the nozzle and gas tank openings were narrowed to match up the correct gasoline. If a similar simple interface were devised to charge a premium for filling up a behemoth SUV, then it would suit all the needs without the friggin' DHS breathing down our necks.
The power equation is revealed in the outlandish style of the "solutions" that the well-connected come up with to keep the rest of us down.
While they have got us scared on terrorism the are also robbing the American taxpayers. This has been the worst 7 years that I have known.
It might be a problem if you had to provide proof of insurance to buy gasoline, but only if you didn't have insurance.
I do agree with you, the records could be used to ration gasoline, and it would make it easy to ration it.
We do need to preserve our right to be secure in our persons and papers, and this means repealing the Patriot Act.
When a population becomes fearful of its own government, that population is in a tyranny.
