I remember these! My kids all had them at certain times in their lives. My 27-year old still has them...and may as well lie down on the floor as stated in your poem! He looks just as foolish! Excellent rictameter!
Good work flit. In my family any attempt to throw a tantrum was followed quickly by a good old fashioned ass whooping. I learned quickly that trantrums didn't get me anywhere, lol.
I remember one tantrum when I was a kid...don't know how old, but somewhere in the 8 - 10 yo range... I was being very obnoxious.... leaning on every possible key on my electric organ and making a gawd-awful noise.
My mother walked in with a pair of scissors, snipped the plug off the cord and that was the end of that.
My kids have them all the time! Sometimes I get down on the floor and have one with them so they can see how silly it looks.........then we all end up laughing!
my kids never threw themselves on the floor for a tantrum, like other kids I know...Pher never threw many...and Angela's were silent, since she didn't talk or vocalize.
Thank you for a wonderfully humorous rictameter, Flit. It sure sounds like the tantrums I've seen! What makes the poem so good, to me, is the way you build tension, and then devolve the the pending tantrum through an adult's recollection of the juvenile deed.
