Today at work most of the old night crew was working the same shift (by old, I mean everyone who used to get the less desired midnight shift, about two years ago when we first started. Thanks to seniority, we have moved up to not have to work that late anymore lol). That in and of itself was strange, because we all hardly work together anymore, I blame the fact that we have entirely too much fun when we work together, and the main supervisor is allergic to fun.
After she left at five o'clock, we decided to behave like children and play a game we all used to play in elementary school called "hot lava".
The game is relatively straight forward. At random, one person yells "HOT LAVA!" in a suprised tone (a face in mock horror and fear works best to accompany this, hand gestures are welcomed also). All players must then somehow get both feet off the floor, by climbing on to something, standing on a box, really anything you can get to. The last person to "escape the lava", must preform a cheesy and amusing death scene (. . . because they were absorbed by the hot lava! LOL).
Now picture about a dozen twenty somethings playing this game in a grocery store, at cash registers. Eventually some of the customers found out we were playing and got in on it too (by calling out Hot Lava, not scrambling to get away from it hahaha).
Yes I am very well aware that my coworkers and I are easily amused. You try scanning cans for eight hours and see how primitive your humor becomes LOL.
So, do your coworkers have any silly, random and pointless games you play to pass the time in an other wise monotonous workplace?
Please share them with me, I am pretty sure Hot Lava is going to get banned by next weekend LOL

But, your line about "the main supervisor is allergic to fun" reminds me of my supervisor. I have been scolded by the boss for smiling and laughing too much. His theory is that I can't possibly be doing my job if I'm enjoying myself!
I just laughed...
She always wants to knw if there are teeth, and then we laugh. You think your group is lame. But then we are WAYYYYY over 40.
You brought back memories of when I cashiered in my local grocery store....I used to have fun with my colleagues!
One time I caught my maintenance crew throwing water balloons. After being the boss and yelling at them I told the production department supervisor to allow his people to use the fire hoses the next time they needed maintenance.
It turned into the funniest sight I have ever seen. (poor maintenance guys) Production increased 20% that month.
We were all shackled to our computers, and usually at least one of us was on the phone with an upset and/or insane person, so we pretty much limited our playtime to emailing each other stupid things we found online.
