For those who may not have read my original rant on this subject, let me bring you up to speed-
Just before Easter in my area, a young mother left her 18 month old son in the "care" her 21 year old boyfriend so she could go and buy Easter candy and the child wound up dead.
According to the original news report, the autopsy revealed the cause of death was a result of blunt force truama to the chest....a follow up news report stated the boyfriend did admit to hitting the child as he was crying and would not shut up. Nice guy.
The prosecuetors office had to wait until the first day of this mans trial on drug trafficking charges was over to formally charge him with first degree murder of this child.
( apperently this guy has been BUSY)
Looking at life without parole, he then recanted and said he never said he HIT the child, he said he HUGGED him. Read along, it gets worse!
Yesterday, the case was in the news again. In exchange for getting the prosecuetors office to drop charges pending from LAST YEAR regarding having sex with a 12 year old, he pled guilty to first degree child abuse, and is now looking at a MAXIMUM sentence of 15 years if convicted.
Is it any wonder society is as screwed up as it is??

This is appalling, but yep, thats our system . Whatever happened to JUSTICE?
If it is any consolation, the men already in prison will most likely will mete out their own particular brand .
Genine,
I agree with you 100%.
I can only hope that once he gets to prison he will wind up on the recieving end for a change. From what someone told me today, (and this is unsubstaniated and I don't know if its true) he got the deal because once the mother returned home the boyfriend told her her child was sleeping. Shortly after that, they both left, leaving the child with the grandparents. It was after a long while the grandparents began to wonder why he was sleeping so long they checked on him and found him dead. Apperently this was enough for the prosecuetor to fear the "beyond reasonable doubt" clause.
He was released on his own recognicense, and those charges where still ongoing.
He was arrested on drug trafficking charges the week before he murdered the child, but was out on $200 bail.
why any mother would leave a child with him is beyond me!
