Gather Glitch?

I had a similar problem with not receiving notifications of comments.

There's a chance that this might not be a glitch. The gather email address may have been blacklisted by some service providers.

I hope things are back to normal soon. My notifications are very scattered and seem to be from select people.

You can easily access all of *your* connections and subscriptions recent content from your My Gather page (not your Namespace) by selecting "Articles for Me" and "Comments", without having to wade through the general Gather articles and comments.

Well, I guess my nofifications are working fine. I was notified about this post.....lol

other than the fact I couldn't even get Gather to open for 3 days, I'm getting all my notifications! In fact I had to go into my settings and cut down on them coz my email acct was getting full coz ya all so chatty! LOL

Me too Cheryl. I was beginning to think noone war reading my stuff, which may also be the case.

I am receiving notifications sort of 'hit and miss' fashion, which might be worse than not receiving them at all. If I know I am not getting them, I'll do as Janna suggested. When I think I'm getting them, I generally use the mail. I enjoyed the dailing list of connection activity. Haven't seen one of those in ages.

As Scott L. suggested, this may not be a Gather problem. It may that your email provider is treating multiple messages from Gather as spam and filtering them.

Sandy, you can also get a daily list of your connection activity by going to your My Gather page>My People>View My People's Activity. It will show activity going back for 14 days. Same thing for your subscriptions, except select My Subscriptions instead of My People.

Also--be aware that when you access your connections'/subscriptions' comments and articles from your My Gather page that sometimes the "next" button (to go to the next page of articles or comments) stops working, which can be frustrating.

I am now getting multiple emails with the same message from my friend... came back to 58 msgs!! But each one was a duplicate! But i think hotmail just does that now and then! lol

I only get my notifications at 5 am. Who knows I quit bothering with the email. I just go look in my gater section.

I get so many notifications, I really can't tell if I'm missing something. I know that some others here are having problems though.

Thanks, everyone.....I figured it out. It actually was NOT a Gather glitch. All of my notifications for some reason started going into my spam folder........I fixed it, so hopefully now I will get them. THANKS!

Also, when the Travel Contest was on, there was this big ad in the middle of my notifications that actually obscured the message, and I couldn't use notifications, then.

At that time, I had to use the left margin...

Now, a person has no choice but to use "My Network" or "Recent" or "Most Read" or other lists..And that is far from complete. Far.

What do you mean by "far from complete?" Are you saying that people who don't utilize or receive notifications do not have access to all the Gather content that those who chose to do?

Janna, those of us whose articles are frequently 'flagged' by others don't show up on any of those lists. We are virtually invisible.

Even since they've modified the flagging system? I seem to be finding and seeing the articles that are flagged for editorial review but I could be wrong and could be missing things (am I missing anything good?). It's not nearly as bad as before when articles "disappeared" completely unless you did a title search and the comments disappeared altogether.

Janna, it is better since they modified the flagging system, in that the comments remain with the article. However, the title does not appear on any lists and comments to those articles do not appear in the general comment list (where many of us go to see what's happening). I doubt you will see it in my list if you go to my articles. I believe you've watched enough, Janna, to know I am considered the mother of all maked men and characters, and on the (s)hit list. Our articles are frequently flagged/reported. Admittedly, they are sometimes silliness with crude comments, but no sillier or cruder than many other things that do not get reported, or that have been immediately 'returned to full service', depending on who makes the call. I am bitter, resulting in my Write What You Mean article yesterday.

OK, I see now. I saw your brilliant parody article and the comments before it was flagged but you're right, subsequent comments still don't show up on the comment list. I wonder if they do once the article is reviewed and unflagged. Do those who receive email notifications get them when the article has been flagged?

Look whose (s)hit list(s) you're on. Does it really matter? All I can say I guess is keep on fighting the good fight. Some of us appreciate it.

They do, Janna. Since the latest 'fix'. However, Ben has been too busy to either reinstate this particular article, or let me know which rule I have broken with it. I'm not positive about this -- but it appears I am also knocked out of the most read, most comments lists as long as I have something in review. We all know I'll never have a ten rating (around about midnight, all of mine drop), and now, if my comments get anywhere close to 'top', someone finds a reason to flag my article. And no, it doesn't really matter, but it gets old. And I'll never stop fighting, because I do appreciate those who appreciate my fight.
