Greetings all of you sexy people out there in Gather land! Welcome to the first edition of Good Humor Monday, where we here at the Writing Essential Group turn the focus away from well crafted prose and verse and instead focus on humorous articles involving footballs to the groin and bodily functions. Now before Gather comes to their senses and yanks the moderating keys out of my hand, let’s get things rolling!
Every day, people come up to me and ask the same question:
“Chris, is that infected?”
No I say, and then I remind them not only that it isn’t polite to stare, but it’s considered downright rude to take pictures. Seriously, stop it.
On rare occasions, people will ask me how am able to come up with such funny things to write about. The answer to that question is quite simple: I’m an idiot.
Oh, I’m not an idiot all the time. I can still function in society, manage day to day tasks and even hold down a job. But on occasion, I manage to do something really, really stupid. And I bet you have too.
I really wasn’t planning on having a theme for my first day moderating Good Humor Monday, but I‘ve never been one for plans or preparing ahead of time. So today in the Writing Essential Group, Good Humor Monday will be celebrating articles of humiliating self deprecation! So send in your stories of accidental nudity (no pictures, please), mistaken identity, acts of klutziness, or some other event where everyone was laughing at you. It’s time to laugh at yourself.

Chris, unlike the other Writing Essentials Member Editors, doesn’t have a snappy tagline to go at the end of his articles. He’ll have to work on that in the future.

Well, I submitted an article in the wee hours of this morning before you tried to enforce a topic focus on my humor muse. Considering the timing, I request a grandfather clause exemption, though looking at some of the early comments posted, this article may itself classify as a self-depracating experience.
Have a funny day.
Birdie, can't wait to read your entry for the day.
was in the hospital.
We play really hard in the summer and I am very entertaining. Several weeks ago
as we were getting all boats and docks to the proper docking areas, I got so excited I forgot to go pick up a few young men. My mission was to take the "muscle" to the launch access, the youth were to wrestle a dock into the water.
I went to the city boat launch, the youth promptly wrestled the dock into the water and then said "did you forget us?" Well, yes, I had. It was an honest mistake, it takes time for a person who lacks physical prowess to descend a thirty foot river bank, untie a pontoon boat, start it, leave the dock, and back out into the river. It must have taken me at least an half an hour. Besides that, I truly did forget to go
upriver a tenth of mile to the campground dock to get them. Hubby and all his friends were entertained for the whole weekend. Heck, even my friends and the kids were entertained.
See, if you are constantly the community clown, the one who is sure to do something that will keep them laughing with you, (they always we're laughing with you), you aren't in to self deprecation. Everyone has their own standards.
Monday's from here on out will be featuring humor in the Writing group. There may be themes, but that would require planning on my part. If requested I could come up with a schedule I suppose.
even a short one will do -
I promise to immediately
screw it all up.
Thank you.
