Tallara(front) with cousin Gabby and boyfriend Ryan and Kate Bell.
My twelve year old daughter Tallara is just a country girl, she doesn't get to go to many of these big city functions, and things have been a bit tight for our family since I broke my back in an accident at work a few years ago. Our little girl did not even own an evening gown or anything suitable to wear to such an glamorous occasion. Her cousin Gabrielle stared in the tv series Blue Water High, Tallara had never met Gabby and was surprised when she came to see her. And a week later invited her to the Nickelodeon awards. Our house was a whirlwind of preparation for the next week as Cinderella prepared for the ball.

Tallara was so excited the night she went to the nickelodeon awards she knew that Bindy Irwin was going to be there along with all the stars in,Australian Idol, Home and Away, and Neighbours,O yes not to mention the young finalist in Australian Idol**DEAN GEYER**whos poster hangs above her bed and who's eyes she lovingly gazed into each night before falling asleep, would she meet him ?.

Our little girl was in her glory rubbing shoulders with the stars, pictured above from left to right Tallara with Lesley Mitchell, Kate Richie, Australian Idol winner Damien Leith, her cousin Gabby and more of the stars from Blue Water High. And far bottom right in his pink t-shirt is the one and only Dean Geyer. Also pictured in the same photo is Ricky Musket and Jessica Mauboy, the young aboriginal girl who ran second to Damien Leith who in my opinion would have won Australian Idol any other year.
Tallara did get to meet Dean Geyer, she thought how fortunate she was when he came and actually sat behind her. She plucked up the courage to ask for his autograph, standing up he asked her name while writing the autograph. Tallara feeling quite pleased with herself and on cloud nine, went to sit back down, not realising the picture theatre style pop-up seats, had popped up. The next thing she realised, she was sitting on her bum on the floor, in front of her idol. Dean jumped to his feet and extending his hand asked if she was okay, and helped her to her feet. Although a little more than embarrassed, I think she relished the moment she got to meet this lovely young boy face to face.
So far to date there has been nothing to surpass this wonderful and exciting night out in the twelve short years our daughter has lived. However I'm sure that with her starting high school this year and entering her teenage years. There will be many more wonderful and exciting nights ahead of her, and going on how beautiful and grown-up she looked on the night, many more prince charmings as well.

I'm glad you enjoyed my story and I was panicking before I went, and then when I was there I was reasonably calm, well about as calm as you can get when your talking to people that I never thought I'd meet, I mean to me they were just people that I thought I'd only see on television. When I fell over in front of Dean Geyer I went really red in the face and I felt like I was going to cry, now it's a joke to me. The other day a stumbled a little bit and Darcey said "Wheres Dean". Once again thanks for your comment and I hope you are well.

Thanks for your comment. I hope you enjoyed my story. It was a wonderful event in my life and I'm sure that I will never forget it. I certainly did fall for my idol and thats a funny joke, even Darcey hasn't thought of that one yet. I hope you, Jane, Smokey Joe and all your other animals are well.
