Please note: submissions received between June 27 and July 5 will be posted for voting on Gather.com within two business days of July 5.

By August 22: Winners contacted and announcement of winning stories selected as Amazon Shorts will be published with excerpts from each on Gather.com.

Martha, I don't work for Gather, but according to the official rules for the contest, it appears as though you can still enter the contest if you are a published author. However, the work submitted must be previously unpublished (prior, or current, publication on Gather is exempt).

Joyce, It is my understanding that poems are also acceptable for entry in the contest.
Gather Administrator in shorts - please confirm that POETRY can also be entered in the competition.

A 2,000 word minimum exludes most of the poems I've seen on Gather.

I just reread the guidelines, and it says "unpublished writers".

Hi Nancy,
Previously published writers are eligible for the contest as long as the entry they submit to the contest has not been published elsewhere (except on Gather). If an author currently has a title for sale on Amazon.com though they can also submit a short to Amazon Shorts.

I fail to submit a story/poem along with a related picture that I brows through my files. I had to do it seterately...first the image and then article! How do I send them together.

You may write about anything you like - as long as your entry is in between 2,000 and 10,000 words.
