Serving Our Troops is a Saint Paul based project providing a special message from home for soldiers and their families in the form of a 12-ounce steak from Saint Paul. Whether preparing for deployment stateside or overseas and linked via video, the Serving Our Troops team offers the opportunity for families to enjoy one aspect of life that is indeed so important - dinner with the family.
Serving Our Troops is currently working on their sixth project, a dinner on Tuesday February 10, 2009 in Saint Paul for the members of the Minnesota National Guard's 34th Red Bull Infantry and their families as they prepare for deployment to Iraq. With an expected attendance of 6,000 people this will mark the largest single meal service in the history of the Saint Paul. Volunteers are URGENTLY needed for set up on February 7, 8 and 9, 2009 and take down on the Tuesday February 10, 2009.
Specific volunteer details include:
Saturday, February 7, 2009 - Culinary/Kitchen support - Volunteers meet at 10:00 a.m. in the RiverCentre Kitchen - Need 20 people
Sunday, February 8, 2009 - Culinary/Kitchen support - Volunteers meet at 10:00 a.m. in the RiverCentre Kitchen - Need 40 people
Monday, February 9, 2009 - Room Set Up - Volunteers meet at 5:00 p.m. in the RiverCentre Kellogg Lobby - AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE
Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - Take Down - Volunteers meet at 8:30 p.m. in the RiverCentre Exhibition Hall - AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE
Also, if folks do want to join us for the event itself, there is plenty to do (report to the RiverCentre Kellogg Lobby at 2:30 p.m. on the Tuesday February 10, 2009). The urgent need right now, however, is for the aforementioned opportunities on the days preceding the event and take down after the event.
