Asking myself what makes me happy. what brings that glowing light into my eyes, I know, without a hesitation of doubt, it is seeing love and joy in another's eyes because of something I have done.
I see it in the eyes of my grandchildren, sometimes only for a moment when I let them see the love I have for them or when I'm silly and do something that makes them laugh or feel good about themselves.
I see it when the little girl I take care of runs to me in the morning with open arms as she did after my son died and I went back to my job. She seemed to know I needed some love and ran into my arms and just held me, as one of my grandsons did at my son's viewing. He is only 12 but he seemed to know Grandma needed someone to put their arms around her and just be there. With my dying breath, I will remember that moment.
That loving gesture made me realize that my life will be without meaning, no matter what my accomplishments may or not be, if I do not reach out to others and give them what we all need, and what we so often hold back, love.
Before the Secret, there was "The House of Annon".
