I've always been a spiritual person. Not necessarily a church going religious person, although I spent many years kneeling, praying and singing at Mass, but I've always felt a closeness to God, Universal Power, Creator, whatever name anyone would like to use.
I talk to my Higher Power throughout the day. Sometimes requests for others, sometimes for me. Today it went something like this:
"I'm not doing very well on this health and fitness routine. Oh I'm doing okay nutrition wise, eating more of the right foods and less of the not so right foods, but the exercise part is giving me a hard time. I know I can do all things with Your help, so please could you kind of help me out here. I really do want to work out, well no, I don't really want to work out, but I know I need to work out, so could you help me here. Either make it easy for me or fun, or maybe not such a chore? Thank you."
I did work out for about 20 minutes today, even used some 3lb hand weights, but that's just one day. I have to make it a routine. A daily routine. And I need all the help I can get.
Let's hear it from those of you who are pulling for me! Or those who are struggling like I am. I want to hear from others who find it isn't all that easy to get up and get moving!!!!! And I want to hear from those who can tell me how they got grooving!

Yeah, that's what I call it, too!
First off, walking is the best start. All but the most infirm can take a few steps at a time. You just keep working at it.
Since I think you are beyond that, look for something fun! I have a ton of music on my computer so I come up with playlists of the songs that make me want to move. I make the playlists 20-30 minutes long and tell myself I have to keep shaking it until the songs run out. At first I only made it about 10 minutes (I was dancing hard) but got to where I could finish. I lost a size and a half doing this!
Look for video/dvds that look fun. My daughter and I are learning to belly dance! The first time we made it 45 minutes into the routine before I hurt too badly to continue. With your arms held up, you tone every inch of your body and can feel the burn. You are concentrating on learning the moves so you don't realize how much you have done.
I had a step thingie before I left Missouri, I think I need to get another. I found 2 at a yard sale for $1 a piece, so I had gotten one for me and my other daughter. When I watched TV I would step until I felt the burn.
Turn on music when you clean house and dance with it. Walk a staircase a few times up and down, increases the flights as you build up. Park the car father away from the door when you shop. Add as many little things to your day as you can, in addition to finding something fun and aerobic. The less you notice the workout, the more likely you'll continue.
Maybe we need to come up with a focus group on fitness. I'll research what is here today and give it some thought.
Dancing is my favorite so I will try the play list. I can dance in place while reading the articles here at Gathering.
Do whatever feels right.
But also invest in spiritual exercises and don't focus so much on the body. The spiritual requires effort by us and not just by God. It's a partnership - a two-way deal. If we focus first on spirit, the body's state of well-being will naturally follow. Or so I believe.

beofre you go to sleep consult your higher power (or asI like to believe my personal unconscious asking it for the best decision for you at the moment taking everything into account. I would be interested in the results. Good sailing.
The 3 ideas I thought it would really help you to get motivated are:
1. You need set up a goal, put on a paper, right on the wall that you can see every day, that will remind you that you need keep your promises to your self.
2. A partner who would exercise with you. He /she will remind you to do it with her/him every day. For example, you can join an class.
3. Pick an activitie/exercise you will like/love, so you will have fun doing it. You probally wanted to do it more since you enjoy it.
Hope this helps.
