It is 7:14. It feels as if it's about 10:30 at night. I dare not go to sleep too early or I'll be up for 3:30. Winter is throwing me off. I just don't have that energy that summer gives me. Yes, I uncorked and decided to have a couple of glasses of the red. I put some frozen grapes in and that keeps me perked up.
We have a beautiful fire lit and I've been reading The Secret by Sandra Byrne. I keep it on my reading table and read it all the time. It makes more sense to me than anything else. Since we had a huge lunch, we're thinking of Ramen tonight. Neither one of us are that hungry but the husband believes in three meals a day.
I'll close asking this question. Who is drinking wine tonight? Tell us about your day. Mine was sweet but uneventful. Thanks for reading this mindless dribble. Salud

I'm still trying to recover from the election and different and wonderful birthday things last week. I'll be posting an article sometime this week about it.
Reading, doing as little as humanly possible and playing on here. I'm off to read again, but I'll be back.
Blessings.
Rob, oh I can't drink beer at night unless I'm out at some bar - it's always wine for me - night is a time I crawl into a ball - winter does me in - well, you know when you get bored you can always email me - in fact, I looked at sales fliers too - lol...do you need coupons? Salud
I've had a quiet day. I went to church this morning; am still not well enough to sing with the choir, though. Sat with my friend Kathy who afterwards was telling me her spinal infection, pain, MRI on Friday and 5 doctor appointments this week. I'm amazed she came to church instead of staying in bed! But the Sunday of Veterans' Day matters to us; we are both widows of Viet Nam era veterans. Her guy was Navy and earned Dolphins; mine was Air Force.
I didn't want to be at home alone so took something I wanted to study to Panera, a small bread and soup chain with free WIFI for customers, and spent much of the afternoon there. I've been learning how severely sodium affects me since the heart failure, especially now that I've begun venturing back out and trying to restore my life to some semblance of itself. So I'm eating out more, where I make good efforts to choose foods I think should be low in sodium, but which often turn out to make me sick quit quickly anyway--in one case last week, enough to nearly send me back into heart failure. :-( So today I chose a chicken, artichoke and basil panini and ice tea. Within the hour my trembling hands dropped the pen I was using and I felt light-headed, ill and with a speeding heart. I just sat there with my head down for the next couple of hours, although drinking tea in the hope of peeingout the sodium (never happened; the fluid just built up inside me). I finally came home and took a Lasik pill and drank plain water, then napped restlessly, but the awfulness eventually passed.
I guess even the most innocent-looking sandwiches from Panera have too much sodium. It's astounding how sensitive I've become to sodium since the heart attack.
Just finished eating a lamb shoulder chop--no salt added and a handful of spring greens--no dressing or salt added. I drank a glass of Torre Sangre de Toro wine with it. Yum! It's a full-bodied, dry red from Catalunya, Spain, from the tempranillo grape.
Thank God wine is low in sodium so I can still enjoy it!
So I'll join your party!
I have an allergy that when I drink alcohol, I break out in handcuffs. So I sip my Pepsi and crunch the ice deliciously.
I am finished with the book- you can order from web site www.bayoutales.com or call Books Along the Teche - I told them about you - they have James Lee Burke t-shirts and caps - you would love them - he goes there in Dec. to sign books...
girl, you are soooo funny - I love you - lots of funny stories to share with you. Blessings and hey I love Pepsi! Salud
Oh this sounds delightful- but Dorine I am worried about you and sorry I haven't kept up with things on your health - I'm sorry to hear you've been ill and will go and read your posts in a few - thanks for coming by and telling us a bout your day - but sorry that sodium affects you - I hope you're drinking lots of water. Salud
I am going to name the bike Mrs M------after you.
I know what you mean about the ealy darkness, it's almost like jet lag.
Yesterday was a precursor to winter, a dim morning that progressed into a gray day with blue spot eyes drifting by amongst the cloud cover that gave small highlights to the yellow leaves blanketing the lawn. The puppies thundered through the damp mess, bits o' biomass clinging to their paws.
In the garage, in sweats, rough wood became a heavy blend of saw dust and Christmas gifts. Drank rum and coke and listened to NPR as the cats watched intently as the paint brush cast them under a spell.
We actually had a very decadent day. We went shopping at some high-end stores and spent money on things we didn't need. We went to Carrabba's for a late lunch/early dinner and had some Zin at the bar before we took our table. We ordered two appetizers before we had our meals, of which I could hardly eat any of by that time. Of course, there was some wine with dinner. When we got home, Kevin played with his new creme brulee makers, so we pigged out on those with more wine.
I'm lucky I'm alive this morning.
Bottoms up!
Don't like to mix my drinks.
Opted instead for a couple
fingers of 15yo Scotch
while we chatted before
sitting down to a great meal!
I just completed a hot grueling day of shopping and eating, and a cold beer on the deck after a relaxing swim in the warm Atlantic. Now to thank you for your always kind words and I'm off to dress for dinner. Rum, not wine (wine was for lunch) is on my mind this evening.
Be well my friend
I drink my tea, and have been sleeping alot today. I went to the dr on Thursday because I have been sick, and I seem to be recovering slowly. I guess getting very sleepy is a sign that I am finally trying to get better.
Yea, Lisa I think that I do and in fact, as I'm cooking I just had to uncork and have a sip or two...I drink it mostly for my health. I drink Sleepy Time tea at night - I go out like a light and sleep until dawn. I'm sorry you've been sick - I do feel tired in the winter - honey is good for that! Salud
Oh my favorite Chef. Richard - how was your rum? How do you drink it? Ok I want to know how the heck you swim in the cold Atlantic - or am I missing something like you wear a rubber suit?
I love your posts Richard - they take me away to places I've never been and put pounds on my hips without raising a spoon - you see how mind over matter works - if you read something about food that is so ultra delicious that you can actually taste it, then your body reacts in kind...now, I have to wait on an opening at the Ojai Fat Farm - gee thanks...
lol. Salud
anyway, i cooked enough for an army on sunday, even there was just the two of us. three hour vegetable broth, gingerbread, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce with grand marnier, amish dried corn...oh, and a glass of wine!
love to you both. m
I love wine though. I am not a fan of red wine but enjoy drinking white!
Bought 3 bottles of wine when you where down and we could never get together to drink it.
There will always be another time.
