I've often walked out along this harbor passing vessels painted in colors of the sea with their brass patina slowly turning blue as an old sea captain's eyes. Oh, those boats - each of their voyages carefully recorded in log books and yet I observe them from eyes that only imagine their complex journeys. The ship-shape cabins, anchors weighed, ropes tightly coiled and knotted; all the pieces of a boat sailing together on a common course guided by stars and weathered hands. With my camera, I capture their stories in black and white, paint the photos at home and create my own sea-faring tales by the fire. Thank you for coming aboard, Salud.

Blessings!
This makes me nostalgic, missing my father-in-law. He kept a boat at Cape May. He taught me to fish for flounder on the Delaware Bay. He also taught me how to sharpen a knife and filet a fish.
I remember that my kids didn't like the smell of the marina. It was so different from anything in the mountains.... but last week as we waited by the Aegean Sea my daughter talked of how she missed the smell of the marina and how much she misses her Pop.
Thank you for stirring the memories.
Sunset and evening star
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
Good night Friend
