I can't believe I hadn't joined your group before! I certainly rectified that.

Kevin's band is playing tomorrow night, so we'll be at that establishment and ringing in the year. Big problem is that I have to work on New Year's Day and I have to get up at 5, so I don't think I'll be enjoying myself as much as I'd like to.

I have no resolutions, but I have goals. I want to get paid for something I write in the new year. That's all.

We always stay in for a private celebration on New Year's -- I hate the idea of being on the road then! It's more fun our way (for us!). At midnight, all the neighbors congregate outside to watch fireworks and toast, which is fun.

Just came by to say hello, and will check out the stories. I have no resolutions except to have fun New Year's Eve. And that's enough for me. Next year can take care of itself, at least for now.

Dear Ann B. We sometimes will go out for a little while since we can walk into the little town where we are - and then we come home and watch old movies which is a big treat for us. I love January 1 as that's when I cook my blackeyed peas, cabbage and sweet potatoes - and maybe a few friends will drop by - I wish you and yours all the best Ann B. and hope things are working out on your forthcoming book! Hi there! I am so behind on reading and catching up with everyone. We were gone for 2 weeks, and my parents are here now until Wednesday. I have tried to post a thing or two, but no time for reading or commenting for a few more days. I just wanted to wish you a very Happy New Year...we will be spending it at home with my son and parents, and on New Years Day we will be cheering the Illini in the Rosebowl Game!

No wine in the house tonight, nor will there be tomorrow night either. In order to get a good bottle of chardonnay I have to drive over to the next county. Too many Bapticostals in these parts! HA! I did nose around in my cupboard and found half a bottle of Korbel's brandy and my best girlfriend gave me a bottle of raspberry crap....errrr cordial as a joke. Today, I have to learn two new programs on the computer. There is a possibility for a new job coming up, so I have to revamp the resume and write a cover letter....and here I am on gather. I'm just warming up! New Years eve is usually a low-key night for us unless we go to a party. I often work functions and big New Years Eve parties but I have the night off. (Some day, I'll tell you the story of how I dipped into the champagne while filling the fountain, "one for you, one for me." NOthing is worse than getting trashed on cheap champagne. Of course, the boss had to give me a ride home!) This year we're staying home because two nights ago we had that Patriot's game party. I too will watch old movies. This is the night I usually watch "Some Like it Hot" and flick from the "Three Stooges Marathon" to other corny shows. I understand there is a "Beverly Hillbillies Marathon" somewhere on TV tonight. And then, of course, there is the bottle of Moet Chandon at midnight! New Year Resolution - the usual - I'm going to exercise and eat the right foods, lose a few pounds...all of those things I always start out with the right intentions and then, by March It's "What exercise program?" One thing for sure in 2008 is that I will finally be through with school. I've been going for nearly 8 years, chipping away at my education and I will be DONE. Of course, now, I'll have to get a real job!!!

Beignets and CommunitY Coffee, I'll be at your house for New Years morning Mariana. Two of my favorites. I'm working on a Master's Degree in Communications and Journalism with a focus on PR. I still have to take 5 courses in 6 months plus hold on to a full-time job and take care of family. I should be done by June. There is presently a possibility for a job in a non-profit organization that raises money to make those with special needs more independent of their care-takers by holding day programs, training, and getting them into the work force. They also provide transportation and counselling. Some are liaisons between employer and employee. My job would be to help set up the fund-raising event, grant writing and such. I did a lot of volunteer work for this particular organization because they do good for the community. Wish me luck. I really have to go and learn these programs now. Happy New Year.
