A Tribute:
My niece and her family have lost their favorite longtime pet, Miz Cybil, whose padded paws are today at rest.
Cybil believed in food, not diets, in oversight, not apathy, and was always lying on-the-ready for attention, petting, and encouragement.
She was a dedicated office worker when supervising my niece's online rare and used book business and as rarely never took days off.
Miz C's devotion to her family was inspiring to all the lackadaisical kitties of the neighborhood, and we will miss her tendency to toss us the evil eye whenever she was displeased. We know we deserved it, for like so many kitties, Cybil was tres discerning and seldom wasted a moment's effort to toss anything--why move if you don't have to?
So RIP, Miz Cybil, you've been a good kitty cat all your long days. Pictured here is the Lady Herself in all her orangey splendor and fuzzy finery, Queen of the Household, and obviously considering a pounce at any moment.
Well....maybe not a pounce exactly!

There's no way around it--having an animal means one day saying good bye, but it's better to have loved and lost than never to have pet a good kitty at all.
